Christmas this year NEARLY took a turn for the worst!. *Phew!*
26/12/2005 started off in a really awful way. We had received news at about 8am (while I was dead asleep and oblivious to my surroundings) that my Grand-uncle Sebastian had passed away on 5am that morning. It was a shocker to me because I was the one who took the call and was rudely awakened from my groggy state when I heard the news. After that, it was like a whirlwind of events ~ one minute Mummy wanted to rush down for the funeral and then there was the issue of my sister already having a ticket and was to leave to tonight to the fact that I’d be going for the choir’s BBQ party alone and then also the fact that my sister STILL hadn’t packed her bags yet!! Haiyolar!.what a headache!!
Then Mummy and I went out to the market (Blimey!.it was freaking 8am the morning after Christmas and I didn’t have the chance to sleep in late!! Not fair! Not fair ~ I demand some justice here, helllloooooo!!!) to buy potatoes to make the mash potatoes that we were bringing with us to the bbq and right after having brekkie and dropping off the (sinfully wonderful & delicious) kuay teow soup, with additional meat and other stuff which cannot be mentioned in here, off we went again to search for bus tickets (which I knew would not be available) to Kluang for that night. Sure enough, none were available. It was a pity but this is one of those things that can’t be helped.
After returning home from the market, we had let the pups out for their morning run and ‘tour’ of our taman (housing area) ~ it has become a norm for them and they (more like Zorro) would insistently tap on the gate indicating that he wanted out around the same time everyday. I guess they aren’t as dumb as I thought them to be! Hahah!I so bad lar. Anyway, off the both of them went and that was about 10.30am. By noon (Mum and I got back around the same time too), Bingo was back because it was scorching hot by then but Zorro was no where in sight.
I thought perhaps he had dumped Bingo when he met his ‘friend’, the white stray which was often spotted trotting in front of our house every now and then. So sis and I went out looking for him and calling out his name. The one thing good about my pups is that they NEVER fail to respond whenever we call them, no matter what they are doing or where they are. As long as they can hear us, they will drop what they were doing & come dashing back home. So you can imagine how worried we were when we didn’t see Zorro running back to the house. We walked around a little but it was just too hot and both of us had also driven around the taman looking for him but to no avail. I was SERIOUSLY getting very worried, mum was freaking out as well coz it brought back bad memories. It was like as if history was repeating and this was pretty much how we lost Pollock some 5 years ago. He had gone out (it was during the mating season) and it was normal for him to go missing for a few days but he ALWAYS came home and we would see him hanging around the girls. So we knew he was fine.
But the last time saw the last of him when it was TOO long for him to go missing and we hardly saw him around, until one of our neighbors told us that they had seen a black carcass on the road. It was Pollock, almost flattened. It was the most awful sight any pet owner had to face and it was heart wrenching to see him in that condition. We were told that it was a hit and run case. Someone help us clean up and I never looked at that road the same again.
It was the same for Zorro, it looked as if he had disappeared into thin air. No trace anywhere. It was scary and all we could do was keep our fingers crossed and FINALLY at about 3.30pm, he came home!!! There is no way I could describe the feeling I felt in my heart when I heard Zorro’s bell tinkling!!
It was the one I bought them both from Kuching. To see him wagging his tail/bum outside our gate was the BEST thing that happened that day!!
Although he was fine and dandy, there were some wounds on his legs. Not bad ones, just some scratches. We came to the conclusion that he may have been in a fight and then got scared off then hid himself in a drain, and got hurt while fighting AND then trying to get himself OUT of the drain but we’ll never know UNLESS one day he starts talking to us and if that happens, I’ll be the first to run!
After the drama and all died out, we began to get ready for the bbq. It was a small gathering amongst friends, well actually!everyone there was in the choir so it was VERY laid back and the be-yourself kind of gathering. Sis’s mash potato was a hit!
And I ate like a pig!..Christmas ma!!! This is the time to stuff your face and have a validly sane reason for the extra pounds piled on.
Half way through the bbq!.while I was flipping my meat, I felt something brush against my leg. I thought it was my sis but when I asked her, she said she didn’t do anything. Still feeling a little suspicious, I ignored that feeling. SUDDENLY!!!!..
I felt it again!!!
It was ‘running’ up my leg and it was near my pocket when I ‘caught’ it from the outside of my jeans. There was DEFINITELY something in my pants!!!!! I could feel it wriggling and I ran for the bathroom shouting, “Move out of the way!!!! I have something in my pants!!!!!†Of course everyone did! Laugh all you want but trust me, you wouldn’t be laughing if you were in my shoes (NOT pants!). Turned out to be a lizard!
Yes!..I felt SOOOOOO geli & icky (queasy)!!!! Of course everyone was making fun of me but thank goodness I kept my cool. Everyone thought I handled it pretty calmly, the girls were all on the lookout after that and I made sure that I folded up my jeans so that all possible entry was IMPOSSIBLE. If you don’t understand, I have a picture to explain this action I took. This was the second time such a shitty thing happened to me. Yes, I like lizards but I hate it when they choose to run up my pants! Had a cockroach do the same thing to me too!what IS with these creatures???? No where else to run up is it????
Haiyooolarr!!not only have I been traumatized, I bet that lizard is too!!!!
On the whole it was a nice way to spend Christmas. And I hope your Christmas was as exciting and happening as mine, if not!then better!

THIS is how my pants looked like for the next half of the time I was at the bbq.

Meet Rocks, our choir masters doggy. He is rather large and my first impression was that he was scary looking and very capable of biting my hand off, but he turned out to be the MOST friendly dog EVER!! This is VERY obvious from the distance I took this picture. He was practically up in my FACE!
My cam got no zoom mah…SO CUTE!!!

Cooking…cooking….burnt meat!

Food that is mouth watering…..Ppsttt, our mash potato still in the red/orange plastic bag ~ hadn’t taken it out yet.
