Was checking out Kucing’s site as usual and was reading her latest about the mega sales starting tomorrow. What is it with (most) women and sales huh? I really dont get it. In fact, a more appropriate question would be, what is it with (most) women and SHOPPING? Hmm…see, all the eyes pop out already.
But seriously, SO many people including Kucing of course is SO looking forward to the mega sales to buy stuff that they have been eyeing but too expensive and of course, hoping to get it now. But knowing the sales tactic of most shopping complexes, I bet what most of them do is increase the price by 50% and then, slash it down by 50%, coming back to the original price. Meaning to say that, IF you havent done your survey properly or maintain some sort of committment to the stuff you intent to purchase, you will most likely be fooled.
‘
Now, coming back to what I think about shopping. Seriously, I think shopping is a waste of time. No, really. I can proudly stand up tall and say that I really dislike shopping and I only do it IF I have no choice, forced to. Meaning to say that, if I wanted something or there’s a function and I need clothes/shoes - only then would I torture myself with shopping.
‘
I know lots of women who could just up and say, ‘I’m bored, let’s go shopping!’ and then end up walking all over the HUGE shopping complex, konon la want to BUY something but actually end up not buying a SINGLE thing. Some people love window shopping - another kind of shopping I totally abhor. Why do some women see it fitting to just walk all over the supermarket, looking at every single thing, trying on almost EVERY pair of shoes in the shoe store and then end up not buying a single thing??? Whats with that insanity??? And this so-called women’s favourite past time is SO tiring. If you really clock the time spent walking about and how far you’ve been walking, you’d be suprised at how many miles you’d have walked in that ONE shopping session. Been there, done that and swore never to do it again!
‘
You wanna know my tactic for shopping? Let me run it through you :-
1. Before leaving for the supermarket, determine what items to buy. Be specific about said item i.e. high heel shoes, beige in colour.
2. Upon reaching the supermarket, DIRECTLY go to the first store OR at the most a specific favourite store like Vinci or Stefano or Bonia or whatever and look for said item. Eg. I’m looking for a beige pair of high heel shoes at Bonia so I go DIRECTLY to Bonia, so stop overs along the way.
3. Target for ONLY beige high heel shoes. Pay no attention to other attractive but not necessary pairs of shoes.
4. Try on the chosen designs and if happy, buy. If not, move on to next store.
5. Upon succesfully purchasing the so called pair of shoes. No more shoe shopping OR window shoe shopping for the day. Move on to the next item on the list. There is no need to enter another shoe store only to feel devastated and disappointed because you didnt give one other shoe store a chance. What you dont know, wont hurt you. Thus, ignorance is BLISS.
‘
My tolerance level for shopping is VERY low. After 3 failed attempts of finding the right pair of shoes, the mission is abandoned. I shop fast and I do not like to linger too long in any one shop. Wasting time.
‘
When it comes to clothes, thats a major headache for me because I’m fussy and I’m huge. So all Hong Kong style and free size blouses DO NOT fit me (I think the term ‘free size’ is bing overrated - really!). Thus, all free size blouses do not get any of my attention. This in turn leaves me with hardly any choices left BUT to get my clothes tailor made. So much for being tall AND huge. Certainly not the right combination to have when most of the girls around me are either small, tiny and short. Even if they are large, they are still short. Sigh. Well, at least shorter than I am anyway.
‘
I guess my man is pretty happy about that. And like I mentioned in Kucing’s comment box, I can proudly say that I’m one of those almost or maybe even already extinct female species around. If there are any others like me, I think we should form some sort of elite club. Lol!!
‘
And to all those happy shoppers (yea right!!) who are waiting to be a part of the hordes of people going to the sales tomorrow, happy shopping coz you wont find me in there!!

Haha i hear you about those Hong Kong sizes, I also have problems fitting into them. They seem to get smaller every year! As for my shopping binge, actually this is the first time this year I’m going on a good shopping spree. And I’ve waited and waited for the sales so I can enjoy the discounts. I hate going to malls on weekends because of crowds, I’d rather go sit at some cafe and watch the world go by. But yeah, most women do love their shopping! And it’s been proven that shopping helps to keep us mentally alert, could be the reason why women outlive men

Hehe… I don’t fancy shopping too. Mother buys me whatever shirts she thinks are acceptable, and i dont have to slog through the changing rooms and all. Envy me!
Still need to try out those trousers though, thats why my trousers are soo old (most of them are about 5 years old)

Haha…you noticed? My target is to blog one post a day from Monday to Friday but have been just too busy with a current system project (being a project manager does not help much), just too tired to think what to write and do the posting (you also will noticed that I am not that creative too…tired, tired)
When it comes to shopping and getting the pocket burned, it depends what is being shopped. If it is about a car accessory, I don’t mind spending even up to RM1,500 (I did that once..went to replace my car horn but ended changing my entire ICE system for a cool RM2,000 cash) but it comes to my wife’s shopping (for clothes), I can be very stingy. So evil of me!
