Hedo said that it would take more than ½ hour to get to my office from my hotel due to the traffic whereas my colleague tells me that it takes just some 10 to 15 minutes ~ lesson learnt, listen to people who WORK in the office and take their advice.
I was SO afraid of being late on my first day at the office that I had rushed through my brekkie and left the hotel by 7.20am, JUST IN CASE. I think I didn?t even have time to put my sunnies on when the cab turned in to the drive way of my office and the time was only 7.30am.
Haiyoolaaa……
D told me that some people would be in the office early but I OBVIOUSLY even beat the earliest guy in the office. Haha!!
LS came in ‘early? as usual and was shocked that I was there earlier than him. I bet he didn?t expect it at all.
Boss came in at about 8.30am and sat me down, said he wanted to discuss something with me. He actually scared the bejeebers out of me when he called me into the meeting room. He looked so serious.
Do you know what if feels like when your GM sings you praises and makes you the benchmark of his expectations?
O M G…….it feels damn bloody good I tell you!!!!
He was telling how my GM was happy with my performance at work (Yippee!!) and how he wants the new girl to adopt my style of doing things. In another words, I?m here in Kuching to ensure that she follows my work style. FUHYOOO!!!
Like so dahsyat only lar…..I hope you don?t think I?m blowing my trumpet coz, MAN….I am now so bloody proud of myself and even if you THINK I am blowing my own trumpet, I dun care lar.
I feel GOOD! :cool:And that is all that matters at this moment. Heh.
The guys at the office took me for my SECOND brekkie for the day and I had kolo mee. It?s pretty much noodles with lots of mince meat ~ YUM!!
It was really nice, that I have to admit. Guys at MY office (in Kulim) kept telling me that the teh tarik is not as nice here, but after reading this, I?ve REALLY and STRICTLY steered clear of ANYTHING that is tarik so although I still have my daily cuppa (of tea), it?s not tarik, just normal teh. The tea here seem to taste fine to me, but since I?m not really THAT fussy when it comes to tea, as long as it?s not them instant 3 in 1 ones, it?s all good. Although the only difference I noticed is that the tea itself is thicker here, leaving a rather kelat (I think it’s like bitter-ish, don’t really know the EXACT word for this.) after taste, as compared to Kulim where there is a little bit more milk-ish and sweeter. Which is the reason why I normally ask for teh tarik kurang manis (teh tarik with less sugar) when I?m at home, at the mamak stalls.
Speaking of mamak stalls, I was SO surprised that there isn?t a single mamak stall NOR an Indian restaurant within sight, in Kucing town. At least, I haven?t noticed them all the days I have been here. It?s only now I realize that I haven?t even seen a single Indian in Kuching either, except the one I see everytime I look in the mirror!!
It?s REALLY bizarre…..
After work, Hedo fetched me and we went to eat kuey chap (FINALLY!!) at this place called Petanak. Sorry, no pictures BUT if you really want to see, it looks like this. As a matter of fact, this is the SAME stall I went to too. I?ll have to add that this dish doesn?t sit well with EVERYONE. If you?re like me (I?d eat anything living under the sun once, except doggies, just so I know I didn?t miss out on anything good. Hey, you live only once and life is short. Eat on and be merry, I say!!), then this is something you should not miss out on. While we (Hedo, God & I) were having our food, Melancholy showed up. That was the first time I met God (Goodness gracious, that?s scary innit? Saying ‘First time I met God.?) and Melancholy. And even though it was our FIRST meeting, I felt really accepted in to the group and felt like as if I knew them for a long time. I?ve kinda come to the conclusion that Kucing-ians (Correct ka this one?) are really nice people. Either THAT or this crazy lot is just the best & happening Kucing-ians I know lar. Haha!
After chit-chatting about everything under the sun, Hedo sent me back to the hotel at about 11.30pm and we made plans to have dinner the next day at Little Boy for the (or more so Hedo?s recommended) authentic kolo mee. Double YUMMY!!!
Can’t wait! Can’t wait!!!!!
