I’ve had my fair share of Malay weddings (love the food and the gatherings!!!) but this invitation threw me off guard. Some things aren’t meant to be done in this gila (crazy) way. It’s so NOT funny. I got this in the mail today and what a shocker it was. I’m really hoping that this is merely a joke coz I think it’s SO not funny to give out wedding invitations worded this way. So icky lar!!! *Takes note on not to pull anything stupid like this.*
Check out the wordings I placed in the red boxes – weird or what???
Ps. I didn’t bother to censor the names coz it doesnt really matter, the weddings over and done with anyway.
Note : Sorry, the invitation has been worded in Bahasa Malaysia and I’m not feeling up to translating it.
Edited to add : For the record, I was not invited for this wedding so I did not attend the reception.
This is merely an attachment I receive today in my email. Just wanted to clear the confusion.

Honestly, i think it is ok la.
Very the kedah malay type of writing. I’m surprised they didn’t add in “mangkuk”. And I think they wanted it to be a lighthearted affair with friends and loved-ones.
But then again, I’m always for things weird.
Chill out, gurl!

Am wondering how’s the wedding party? A lot of guests?
Wednesday, 21. December 2005
Selba : I wouldn’t know but I think you can expect quite a big turn out at Malay weddings. They practice this open house concept where EVERYONE in the village is invited. You could just pop in, eat and leave and I bet no one would question you on which side of the couple are u coming from.
The beauty of the open house concept.
Cheh-cheh : Haha!! MY exact feeling too. Weird feeling right?
Lilian : O yar….very!!!
Helen, LB & BJ : Aiyooo…pls lar!!
You all see me no up wor.

Now everybuddy know liow…how to pretend i dont see ppl thik-thiaking snops of me sun-bathing. Alamak!!! Wasted, wasted…must change venue liow…
