Mama! Mama! Where are you??? *Looking around frantically* Owww..so painful!! I can’t believe these human have the heart to purposely hunt mama and I down, separate us and then hurt me so bad. They were clubbing me so hard! Don’t they know that clubbing me repeatedly till I’m bloody hurts so much?? I know they want me dead so they can take my snow white fur. But I need it more then them. Why are they doing this? I’m too young to die!⦡ ~ The thoughts of a baby seal lying bloodied and dying after being clubbed by hunters.
Bloody human!!! Heartless creatures!! Are they God’s creation as well?? Can you believe that they fished me out of my home by hooking my fins then sliced it off cruelly??? And to make matters worst, they threw me back into the sea WITHOUT them!! How the hell am I suppose to swim??? You know what I’d like to do? I’d like to see how they try to stay alive if I chopped off their hands and feet, then threw them back into the sea. I’d love to see them sink to the ocean bed and drown just like me now, just lying here, waiting to die. I bet only then they’d know how much it hurts to have their arms and legs chopped off just like my fins? ~ The thoughts of a drowning shark, lying at the bottom of the ocean.
My first post of year 2006 and I want to make it meaningful. I want it to have an impact on people (especially those who are responsible for the killing). I want to open the eyes of the blind and hopefully save some VERY precious lives; priceless lives which have effect on our ecology but yet, we fail to see their importance. The above 2 thoughts are fiction but I bet that this is pretty much what runs through the minds of a large number of creatures around the world suffering an equally painful fate. A fate sealed shut that being born into this world is merely for dying, and dying for the wrong reasons. Listed below are some of the killings which take place around the world, on a daily basis. Not all are mentioned but just a handful.

Do you love Shark Fin soup?
I’ll admit it. I used to LOVE shark’s fin soup! It was the ONE thing I looked forward to whenever my family was invited for a Chinese wedding reception. That is until one day, when I saw what the shark’s had to endure for ME to ENJOY my soup on National Geography. That ton of bricks hit me 8 years ago and that is how long I’ve stopped taking shark’s fin soup. The horror and the impact it had on me has since stayed with me and will be buried with me. Chinese are well known for this (horrific) delicacy. As a sign of status and luxury, most wedding reception will have this on their menu. But does anyone realize that shark’s fin has NO taste, NO medicinal or health values? It’s JUST cartilage. You’re PAYING through your nose for CARTILAGE. And do you know the slow and agonizing death a shark suffers to FULFILL your want for prestige and ‘name’?
Maybe these pictures will help you see what a shark has to endure for YOU to fill your tummies.

Ain’t THAT awesome??

Keeping warm & fashionable with fur
Aww….they are GORGEOUS aren’t they? But you know what? It’s just dead animal. Those models AND owners of ANY fur accessory are merely donning CARCASSES. Not really something one should enjoy, no? I don’t find it thrilling at all to wrap myself in a dead animal, do you? Taken DIRECTLY from Fur Is Dead
The fur ads you might see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths. Millions of fur-bearing animals including foxes, raccoons, minks, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, otters, and others are killed each year on fur farms by anal and vaginal electrocution and in the wild by drowning, trapping, or beating.
~ Need I say more? Told you sticking an electric rod up your arse would hurt like a bitch! Foxes are most commonly electrocuted; one electrode is inserted into the animal’s rectum and another into its mouth. The fox generally does not lose consciousness for between one and two minutes, and animals may later revive only to have to then undergo this cruelty again. The main reason for selecting these killing methods is to ensure that the fur is not damaged. Those carrying out the killing need no training or qualifications. Interesting.
~ Pretty much what they look like ‘naked’.
Ugghhh..that electrocution bit must have hurt like a bitch, don’t you think? O, and then you have the rich & famous – spotting various coats of fur too. Did I tell you we ought to thank Jennifer Lopez for starting a fur-fashion frenzy?? We really should.
Let’s take a trip and a have a look at some of these creatures who have contributed to our ever-growing fur-fashion wants and whines.

And these are merely SOME of the gruesome pictures I’ve put up. There are MANY more where this from.

I hope you’re still with me, despite the gruesome and grotesque images you’ve seen.

Baby seals are such cuties, don’t you think?
But you know what? As much as I love them in their furry, soft white coats, I wouldn’t it on me. I rather leave it on the baby, WHERE IT BELONGS!
If you were to witness this cruelty personally, your heart would break. Newborn seals skinned or bled alive … clubbed to death … or shot and left wounded to die under the ice. This coming straight from Save Baby Seals. I’m just upset I couldn’t find a video to put up on here but even if I did, I don’t think I could stay right through it.

Have you ever heard of ‘chinchillas’? They are these really small sized creatures which look like a cross between a squirrel and a rabbit. Cute creatures they are but!as usual, us humans are normally to fat-headed to think of anything else besides our own desires at the expense of what we think are merely animals. They too suffer as a consequence of this need to wear fur. These cute and gentle animals are doomed to extinction if the demand continues.
If you ask me, there are SO many more animals out there facing extinction and not many of us seem to care. Seriously speaking, is there REALLY a need to wear fur? And I’m not talking about Eskimos. They LIVE in the Artic, they NEED it. It’s no longer a WANT. There is a HUGE difference between a WANT and a NEED. And people need to get that right. Why can’t human start to think how WRONG it is to wear fur? There is a CRUCIAL need to make people realize that.
O and PLEASE don’t dump crap like, ‘Oh…but you consume animals like chickens, cows and goat too. Why are you defending them as well’ Farm animals are bred for human consumption. Not EVERY single creature on earth is bred for human consumption. And I TOTALLY agree with Infinite Bowel on his view. *Good job job, mate!*
Despite those ignorant fools who are still adamant about wearing fur which I might (gleefully) add should be dwindling in number due to the publics’ constant out cry against wearing fur, many have also ’seen the light’ and are making the effort to do the next best thing if at all fur is a MUST then go fake! Wear synthetic fur and leather and leave the skins on the animals backs where they TRULY belong!
Just a few more words before I leave you to contemplate the injustice you would be doing or have done if you have a fur coat OR plan to own a fur coat (which you SHOULDN’T be thinking about of at all NOW), do you know the PRICES some of these fur fetch? Let me give you a short run down about it.
Mink
Commercial — $2,499 – $5,999
Moderate — $6,000 – $9,999
Upper end — $10,000 – $50,000
Fox
Brightly hued short fox chubby jackets average $3,000 to $15,000 at retail or more for top designers. Natural fox pelts from North America, including wild red or gray fox, cost much less. Therefore, ankle-length wild fox coats, though not widely available, can be found at retail starting at about $1,999.
Beaver/Sheared Beaver
A natural, long-haired beaver coat retails in the range of $2,000 to $5,000, while a sheared and dyed one usually starts at $4,000 and can cost up to $7,000 or even more for some designer coats.
Sable
Russian sable still the most prized and expensive fur in the world for its legendary silky quality, rarity and light weight. At retail, a little sable jacket starts at about $16,000, and a top quality, silvery coat can run upwards of $150,000.
Chinchilla Fur
Expensive and fragile, chinchilla is prestigious, difficult to manufacture and rarer than sable with prices that don’t peak quite as high, ranging from $30,000 for a jacket to about $100,000. No fur needs more care, but no fur is softer than chinchilla.
Raccoon
A long-haired fur with signature gray and black shadings, raccoon coats retail for between $2,000 and $6,000.
For more prices, please click here.
I’ve asked myself this question perhaps a million and one times ~ how in heaven’s name did we end up in this gruesome state of cruelty? What does it take to stop the killing? In actual fact, the answer is pretty simple and straight to the point. Humans are resourceful and we were created to be that way. What we need to do is look at ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves, do we really want a world which has NO eco imbalance? Where our mere lives depend not only on our survival but the survival and continuous growth of EVERY SINGLE creature on earth? I simply LOVE this last paragraph written in an article why wearing fur is wrong because it truly hits the nail on the head.
It is only when people stop buying fur that the fur trade will cease to exist. These horrific occurrences cannot be justified. The cause of such cruelty is nothing more than pure vanity ~ Animal Defenders International.

Note : Yes, this is my LONGEST serious post EVER simply because it took a LONG time for me to source for information (and I know there are LOTS more out there) and also because I’m VERY against wearing fur & cruelty to animals. Truth be known, I couldn’t bear to read ALL those articles as I was already near to tears while writing this piece out. If you felt NOTHING whatsoever after reading this post, you seriously need help. Pronto.

No fur in my wardrobe and the wool was from a long time ago, before I knew better.
Mother Earth has been around since long before us and she’s still doing fine (Apologies to JoeC and Robert Palmer above).
I get worried about people when I see pictures like these. Where do we stop? What speck of humanity will be left to us if we go on?
When do we go from doing this unto ‘food’ and start on other people?
*sigh*
Happy 2006 to all the sharks, seals, Animals of The Day out there.
Monday, 2. January 2006
Many years ago, I saw a documentary on how trappers kill the baby seals. They just club them to death, while the mother seal tries desperately to protect her baby. It was very graphic and I bet if you saw it you would cry buckets of tears. I wonder how these trappers and fur dealers will feel if we kidnap and sell their children for sex to pedophiles? I’m sorry to be bringing this up but what these a-holes are doing is basically the same. Killing the little ones so they can satisfy the urges of the rich and famous for soft furs. SCREW THEM ALL!!!
As for Sharks fin soup, I too am guilty of having them during wedding receptions before. But I’ve never touched the stuff for a long time now,it’s my own little way of showing protest. By the way, did you know that a shark’s fin contains high levels of lead? I read that somewhere (I think it was in Ocean Park in HK), so it’s probably safe to say that eating too much sharks fin can cause lead poisoning. Poetic justice no?
***YAY!!! I have another hardcore anti shark fin souper.
Actually, they contain mercury due to the water pollution done by man. It’s VERY much like karma aint it?
Monday, 2. January 2006
good on you, Yvy.
I must say I am a guilty shark fin consumer as well.
My daughter’s school did a research/drama presentation about sharks last year and it has really raised her awareness on how the sharks have to suffer for us to enjoy the so called delicacy. Many times we have been out for meals and she kind of hesitates when shark fin soup is served. But then, cos all the adults dun give a shit (except for zara’s mama and papa), she eats it too.
Something for me to think about…
***Seriously King’s wife, shame on you for letting her give in like that when she already had the awareness in her. I applaud her school for bringing this to the kids attention. Now, it’s your turn to stick by ur daughter and stand your ground. Remember, it’s just cartilage.
Monday, 2. January 2006
I applaud you for your stand against mindless cruelty to animals! I also so happened to be in an industry that is very much guilty with its commercial passion for furs and skins. What’s wrong with fake furs, eh? But no! The glitterati MUST have their minks, their sharkskin boots, and the industry responds… without a moment’s concern about Animal Welfare. It’s ludricous! Shameful! It is a terrible, heartless, ‘not my problem’ world we live in. That’s why we are heading the way of the Dinosaurs. I am glad I have never designed such articles of incomprehensible torture just for selfish profit. But at the same time, I have not stood up against the rest either..
Very well researched and written article, Yvy! Shame on all of us who have just stood by and done nothing. I will not have Shark’s Fin on my Wedding menu either!
***I hope that is a promise you will stick by, LB.
Many of us are just like you. Although we dont agree with it, we do nothing to help stop it or prevent it. Even me. The most I can do is stop myself n try to influence others. I hope that I have done some proper damage to the shark fin soup industry throught this post.
Monday, 2. January 2006
Very depressing to read!
Let’s all play our little part to do whatever we can.
***Yes, it is….but glad you are taking the right step though. So no more shark fin soup for you too, ok?
Monday, 2. January 2006
geeeeeeeeee………
better to be vegetarian
***You say only lar!! See your dinner in Segambut oso know it’s not possible for u leh!!! I bet u eat shark fin soup right? Well, abt time you stopped.
Monday, 2. January 2006
omg… the fox and chincilla fur coat is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
i’m so determined to own a fox stole before i die. blame it on bryanboy for awakening my dormant fur fetish… but i soooo love fur! oh i do! i do! i do!!!!!
(but i don’t own a fur anything yet. sigh!)
don’t whack me… i believe in saving the turtles. seriously.
***Eeeeeeyeerrr…I just KNEW u’d say that after you saw it on Bryan.
If you can save turtles, why not the rest?
Monday, 2. January 2006
Self-interest is but the survival of the animal in us. Humanity only begins for man with self-surrender. ~ Henri Frederic Amiel. The idea that people act to promote their self-interest is not surprising, even man are killing man now as you can see elsewhere now. Is that the phenomenon of “born for the kill” a natural instinct
***Yes, but humans are ALSO resourceful and if there is a will, there is a way. So why not choose a less barbaric way or survival?
Monday, 2. January 2006
eyer Yvy, u make me so self conscious now of the things i eat and wear now.. i don’t wear fur fur stuffler..but i do enjoy the occasional shark fin soup..but u make it seem to gruesome, u have put me off it.. *upside down smile* and the baby seals are cute!
****Yup, J…that was the whole point and objective of my post. I dont make shark fin gruesome J….IT IS GRUESOME. And thats the reality. I’m glad I got you to quit it (pls make sure it’s forever).
Monday, 2. January 2006
Hey babe, you are definitely creating an awareness in me. I felt like bawling when I saw those pics (I am so emo like that ) I don’t own fur, and I prolly can never afford to own one. Anyway I think fur in fashion is so passe!!! LB, am I right? (hey darling, you better nod your head!) Re. sharksfin, next time, if they serve that, MUST. CONTROL. AND. THINK. OF. YVY’S. ENTRY.
***SO happy I did that!!! It’s an achievement for me. Dont worry, I’m just as emo as u, maybe more! Frankly, speaking…if at all this post had an effect on u, you dont need to remember my post at all. Those images should have been smoldered into ur brain. That is a good enough reason.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
Oh my God, those … pictures … they’ll stay in my head for a very, very long time. I don’t know what to say, I’ve never eaten shark fin soup, or worn fur (hah, seriously — I’ve never been anywhere else besides hot, humid here and the US, and we certainly never had the money to buy fur coats in the US), but I am embarrassed, ashamed for the human race, supposedly the most intelligent of God’s creations.
I really appreciate you posting this. I’ve never minded reading long entries, and this certainly is a very precious entry. Actually, I feel like slapping the models wearing the fur coats, although they’re probably the least guilty of all the people involved in this terrible trade.
**I hope they stay in your head FOREVER.
Like you, I dont blame the models. They just carry what they are asked too BUT they can still do their part in declining the offer but who would???? Making $$ right? Once again, we humans only think of ourselves…indirectly, we will caused our OWN extinction.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
Aiyoooh…I get the message woman!! That made me really sad as I was reading it. as in SAAAAD!!!
Happy New Year to you. I still havent finished my traditional new year entry since I’m already swamped with work. Argh! It’ll be up soon. Thanks in advance for the teh tarik your sending…yumeeeh!
***Haha!! THAT’S the whole idea, my dear. Drill it into the heads of the ignorants.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
Actually, they (furs) were only passe for a good few years (when fake fur was hot then), but unfortunately have been making a strong comeback.. with the 80s materialistic fad back in vogue these days. Pretty awful, but true. What kk mentioned is true too – top of the food chain, hunters, etc.. We’ll never learn. *bobbles head*
***That’s the sad thing isnt it? We only regret when its too late and WHEN it’s too late – there’s no turning back the clock.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
One of the reasons i hate chinese wedding dinners is bcoz of the sharksfin soup. All in the name of “face” only. This is a great post to create awareness which is so lacking these days. I’ve to ponder some of the points you mentioned here too.
***Good!
This is what I want people to do. To sit n ponder about what we are doing to these creatures. You know, it was SO tough for me in the beginning to resists the shark fin soup coz I really liked it alot but the impact of those images were just much stronger. I never fail to protest each time I go for a Chinese wedding. I make a lot of noise too. I even told a fren that I wouldnt attend her wedding if she had shark fin on her menu – good thing she didnt.
(I doubt itwas cause of me though.) And my colleagues hate it when I organise an office dinner coz they know I wont order shark fin. They make noise abt it too but I just disregard them. I know that it is VERY expensive n they are substituting it with tang hoon (if I’m not mistaken) but I wont take the risk.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
that was one depressing post.
luckily i was always against wearing fur and harming cute lil animals.
HAPPY NEW YEAR WOMAN!!!!
***Meant to be depressing woman coz THIS is the reality. Glad to note u’re on MY side.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
:cry:yikeeee…..this post spoilt my whole day appretite already…..
no dont kill dogs….
no shark fins:(
but it’s really thoughtful of you to bring this up. i’m gonna go vege today. hm..
dun kills dogs
***Goin vege today? Just for today? Then no use wor.
It’s more than just going vege. You have to also tell people about this and I can tell you it’s HARD!!
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
You see…this is irony of things.
One hand, we are all geared up against senseless killing of sharks, foxes and other “protected” animals but on the other, we are digging our hands on barbeque lamb chop, grilled chicken , ikan bakar, etc
I seen how a goat is slaughtered with a cut on it’s throat (it was like 10 times worst than the shark being cut) but I forgot all about it the moment the meat was cooked into a delicious mutton curry :mrgreen:
The only way seems to go is to be a full time vegetarian but aren’t we also killing plants?
So, sometimes, we have to live on with one eyes closed. I guess it is just their karma to die as such
P.s. btw Hari Raya Korban is coming soon – take a trip to see how the cows are “dikorbankan” and you will never touch another beef burger
***Yes, I am well aware of how they kill the cows and goats. You cannot compare the 2. But the thing is….like I mentioned, these are farm animals. They are bred largely for human consumption and no matter what, their population will be sustained. And every SINGLE bit of them is eaten (well almost anyway). It’s not the same with sharks. Coz the objective is JUST the fins, and they dump the fish back into the water. I think there would be less of an outcry if people/hunter made used of the whole fish, but most of the time – not. The other problem with shark’s is that they arent bred like farm animals and it takes a LONG time for them to reproduce – some species more than 15 yrs before they are matured and old enough to breed. And each shark can only have like 1 pup on an average annually. That REALLY leaves their numbers VERY VERY low.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
well done, yvy! I’m so proud of you
I’ve stopped eating shark’s fin soup for many years now and i’ve never owned fur coats.
but, i’m not yet a vegan…
***Thank you dear! I’m VERY happy that it had SOME effect on those who have read this piece.
That was the objective. Even by being vegan, you’re killing plants mah…..lol =P
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
yvy: i can honestly save turtles because turtles don’t have fur. so no point killing them, although you’ve got to admit that turtle eggs are pretty yummy! but no, i don’t eat them anymore.
that said, i’d rather save fur-less animals – turtles, whales, pink dolphins… i love dolphins.:mrgreen:
***Oi….how can liddat one? U save then coz u can use them izzit? Teruklar you…. I love dolphins too. You take a trip to Seaworld, Gold Coast. You can swim with them!! But must book early, if not end up swimming with sharks only. Like me….*sigh*
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
i had mcD for lunch…accidentally forget abt my vege meals today :p ..aiyoo..
***Alamak, liddat means habis lar!!! No hope liow….but s’ok. As long as u remember NO shark fin n fur. Good enough.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
Yes, it is indeed meaningful.
Are you a vegetarian?
***Nup….surprisingly I am not.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
This is indeed an awakening to all… what more at the beginning of a new year. I am totally with you ….. I do not understand how ppl could be so cruel. I am of course not talking about killing for survival. These are all senseless killing that could be avoided.
Do we need to be vegetarian to justify our outrage at all this? Of course NO. I’ll like to state that I am not against the killing of animals (if it is for the survival of mankind, I accept. God do not make all creatures the same. I know some ppl will not be happy, but that is what the bible says…:-P) but I am against the senseless killing of animals!!
I just feel sick looking at the pictures!! I hope ppl will think twice before they purchase anything that is related to the illegal animal trade!
Well done Yvy!
***YAY!! And my club grows bigger and bigger!!
Glad to hear it, Helen….we need more people like us.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
indeed this is a very very good post to begin the year with. thanks for your time doing the research work, yvy. lots of work and efforts was put in i see.
i’m also one who feel compassion for the animals, and can’t undersstand how cruel humans can be to torture the animals such just for the sake of beauty of to fill their stomach.
i read about how their get the shark’s fin sometime back and vowed not to eat any shark’s fin but unfortunately i did not stay on my own vow. will try my very best not to eat it from now on.
i had also decided to give up on eating any other animals except the 3 i grew up with – chicken, pig, cow – no other animals for me. people have the cheek to tell me that rabbit’s meat is tender and delicious. i can’t believe people can eat the cute rabbit.
very good post, yvy. i might want to mention this post of yours in my blog.
***Well, if did take some time in searching for the info and pictures but I feel that it was WORTH it!! If everyone who read this, and felt something stirring in their heart and it made them see things clearer abt these gruesome acts, then my work is done. And u must make an effort to refrain from shark fin soup and make it known to those who still eat it too. Only then would my work be futile.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
Oh my…that’s so heart wrenching
Thank God I’ve stopped drinking shark’s fin.
***Well, that was the whole point and the objective. Somehow I feel that images of pain and hurt normally leave a longer impact as compared to those which have a care free, happy go lucky kind. I mean, I were to put up pix of shark’s swimming around, I’d be wasting my time. But this I know would have some impact, now matter what.
Tuesday, 3. January 2006
I mean taking shark’s fin.
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
Wow. Some pretty disgusting stuff for sure.
Though I got no problem with leather. As long as it comes from animals harvested for food. I don’t want the cow slaughtered and toss out the meat just to make some shoes, purses and coats.
Cutting off fins from sharks and slicing the skin off the legs of an animal. Thats just cruel and unusual. Ugh the caveman may have needed furs. But we can do better than that now.
***Well, Khor…..maybe times are slowly reverting back to the days of yore.
I hope Ted doesnt drag me home by the hair. I’d go instantly bald seeing that my hair is SO fine.
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
Damn this was such a good blog! I’m glad people are still aware of all the animal cruelty, and if they aren’t, they will be after reading your great blog! The pictures are even too cruel to look at!
I put a link to your site at my blog so more people will become aware! Thank you for writing this blog!
***WOW!!! Thanks for the plug. I’m glad that you have a lot of confidence in this post of mine.
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
Your post nearly made me cry. I hate cruelty to animals too – there are some really sick people out there who don’t care how their fur coats are made, just as long as they get to show it off. Pointless and barbaric killing of animals will earn you a spot in hell, I hope.
I stopped eating shark’s fin soup a long time ago, and don’t wear real fur … but I am guilty of owning some leather goods. After reading your post though, I’m going to avoid leather goods too!
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
Point made very well. No more sharks’ fin for this meat lover.
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
PETA believes that animals have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have an interest in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use—for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason.
cruelty to animals.it wrong.just wrong .They are GOD’s creatures,
Animals claim no nation. They are in perpetual involuntary servitude to all humankind, and although they pose no threat and own no weapons, human beings always win in the undeclared war against them. For animals, there no peace treaty—just our mercy.
he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.â€Whats wrong with the people in the world today .Shame Shame on you,Do we not know Norah’s ark .In other words, God was going to save Noah and his family from the worldwide flood by placing them in the ark where they would be safe.
God had more instructions for Noah. God cared about the little animals.
“And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.”
God told Noah to bring every kind of animal on the ark–one male and one female, that is a pair. God said that each little animal would come to Noah so Noah would keep them alive. God sent the animals right to Noah! What a sight that must have been. Of course, Noah did not bring fish on the ark because they would not drown from the flood–they live in water!
God also told Noah to collect food for Noah and for the animals for their stay on the ark. Noah had to gather A LOT of food to feed all those people and animals. Noah obeyed God and did everything that God told him to. It took Noah a LONG TIME to build the ark and gather all the food that they would need while they were on the ark. Remember, he had to collect food for himself, his wife, his three sons, and his sons’ three wives PLUS he had to collect food for all the animals that were going to be on board the ark.
The ark was completed when Noah was 600 years old! It took 100 years to build it! After it was finished, God told Noah,
Wednesday, 4. January 2006
“Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.”
God went on to tell him to take seven pairs of each of the clean beasts onto the ark and one pair of each of the unclean beasts. He also commanded him to take birds onto the ark by sevens to keep their seed alive upon the face of all the earth. Then God told Noah,
“For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.”
Can you imagine what that was like? To know that in one week, God was going to cover the whole earth with deep, dark water. To know that your neighbors were going to be killed in one week? Noah’s neighbors probably laughed at him for building such a huge ark on dry land. The Bible says that Noah was a preacher of righteousness–but nobody listened to him. Nobody believed that God would destroy the wicked. But they were very wrong. They had had 100 years to repent and follow God, but they would not.
Finally the time came for Noah and his family to enter the ark. After they went inside, all the animals followed them. The animals were paired up–the male and his female. This way, after the flood, the animals could make babies and repopulate the earth. There were all kinds of animals–
THE BEASTS like lions, bears, tigers, wolves, squirrels, and cats.
THE CATTLE like cows, oxen, wildebeasts and deer.
THE CREEPING THING THAT CREEPETH UPON THE EARTH like beetles, grasshoppers, worms, and moths.
THE FOWLS like vultures, sparrows, robins, storks, and eagles.
There were rooms and compartments on the ark for the animals. Each animal had a mate. Each male had a female and each female had a male so they could repopulate the earth after everything had been destroyed.
When God made the earth, He made it so man could live a comfortable life, but man did not want that. So God destroyed it all except for the ONE man who loved God. That man’s name was Noah. After Noah, his family, and all the animals were on the ark, the LORD shut the door of the ark. And with that, the rest of the world was condemned to die.

I think Noah should have left out cockroaches

I stopped eating shark fin many many years ago too after watching National Geography(cut the shark’s fin and the shark can never swim again). I failed to convince my parents to say no to shark fin. I won’t have shark fin in my wedding dinner menu. But hor when I attended my frens’ wedding dinner I did eat shark fin. I know I should be ashamed of myself.
Never like fur except fur on the animals.

You know I’m with you, Yvy. It’s appalling, these bastards who wear fur.
The worst video I’ve ever watched involved a raccoon, while still alive and mucking around, being pushed to the ground, after which its legs and arms (all four) were cut off. While alive. The thing was squealing.
Kesian gila.
I was on the verge of crying when I saw that. Five seconds later I just couldn’t watch it anymore and I shut off my PC, but the image haunted me for days, man. Whoever the fucker was who chopped the creature’s limbs off deserves the same treatment too. If only the world was an anarchist state…. as I have no qualms about killing off unfair and cruel people, I’d see to it that the poachers be hung to death first.
These bastards want the fur for cosmetic purposes, not for survival purposes! At least if it were the latter purpose then their cause would be (quite) justified, you know, ’survival of the fittest’ and all that bullshit.
Kesian those creatures. Sigh. Humans.

Xaph : I know what you mean. But the thing is, not ALL of us think this way and like it or not, there’s always 2 sides to a coin – 2 points of view on any matter. I wish it wasnt this way particularly when humans hunt for profit & not for survival.
Che-cheh : Yes, sad to say I have tp agree with u. You should b ashamed.
Metria : Haha! And tiny house cicaks/lizards….
Sam I Am : Wow! That’s the LONEST comment I’ve ever read!!!
Bunny : Phew!!
Sanne : Welcome to my blog! And tq for the compliment.
And the plug too.
Metria : Sorry dear but that is reality.

I don’t like all seafood, so I’m cool with the sharkfin soup thing, and with Malaysia’s weather, fur would be torture. But as for no leather shoes and watchbands, noooooooo….

There’s a video of a series of animals being skinned alive. When I saw it, I had to sit down whatever it was I was eating at the time and sit over the toilet just to make sure I didn’t blow chunks all over the keyboard. Then I hugged my cat and posted a link to the video everywhere I could. Many people deleted it and cast it off as spam. Just this past winter, I found out that a coat that my parents purchased for me had real fox fur on it. I hadn’t any clue, because I can’t tell the difference between the real and the fake myself. I was in shock when I found out. How could they afford such a thing, and since when had I asked for it? And what would I wear if I got rid of the coat? Wouldn’t the animal who died for my coat have done so in vain if I removed the fur? Since when was I so superficial that I cared about the price tag on my clothes? They’d mistaken me for someone who cared about being “cool” in school, decked out in all the latest fashions, a walking billboard. I’m really glad that you posted this. People really ought to know these things, the price another living thing pays for greed.

I was so adament about not eating sharks fin that I nagged my mum months before my bro’s wedding and threatened to boycott the wedding reception if she put sharks fin on the menu. She never did. Replaced it with sea cucumber instead. *POWER!*
And don’t even get me started on the pelt/fur/wool trade…there is alpaca wool as well…(I think – can’t remember the exact name but the wool comes from a wild antelope and it’s an endangered species).

sharkfin isn’t as popular here in Australia as other countries but it is still consumed to some degree, as is shark cartilage products. Sharks are not only misunderstood magestic beautiful animals but as an apex preditor thier role on this planet is vital in the least. Frankly Id like 5 minutes with a few of these sharkfin industry workers. Id cut off thier arms and nuts then thow em in the desert and see how the hell they like it. In fact Id encourage anyone with the money and resources to sink a sharkfinning vessel (with crew) today!!!!
