Penang Blogger Meet cum CNY party is ON. Details as follows :
Date: 5 Feb 2006 (Sunday)
Time: 2.00pm
Venue: Ong’s place at 8 Prangin Lane (Click here to see map.)
Since it’s going to be held in Ong’s place, we’ve decided to turn it into a potluck gathering. You can bring anything you want but preferably something Chinese New Year-sy. 
Cakes, kuih kapit, teekuih, kuih bakul and the lot, oranges also can! 
All are welcome to join in. I hear that there MIGHT be a podcast and someone is bringing his WIFI AP. (Whats is that alien thing lar??? No idea what is it.) If you are familiar with the area, please go directly to Ong’s place, but if you are blur- blur like me, then please meet up at Starbuck’s Pragin Mall and we’ll all just take a walk over as it’s only 5 minutes away.
So come one, come all!!! *Psstt…..first 5 early birds will receive a gift from Ong, do spread the news ya?*

snglguy, too late? what? you didn’t know that there are 15 days to CNY? the last day, the 15th is ‘chap goh meh’ (literally translated ‘15th night) which will be celebrated in a big way too. and on 5 feb. night, being eve of the 9th day of CNY, which is the actual new year for the hokkien, you will get to hear lots of fire-crackers going off (though it is ban).
5 feb is only the 8th day of CNY. 12 feb. (chap goh meh) is the last day of CNY.
btw yvy, you should put a link to the forum lah so that at least people will get to see the map how to get to the venue. later on, i will put a link to all blogs that blog about the meet in my blog.

lucia> I know there are 15 days in a CNY, I’m Hokkien myself. It’s just that we never celebrate it that long here, in China yes, that’s why they have a very long CNY holiday. Here, it’s business as usual after the new year.

snglguy, we too have only 2 days off for CNY and it’s back to business… but that doesn’t mean CNY is over and we stop celebrating it. we still consider CNY is on (until the 15th day) and do celebrate it within these 15 days. well “after the new year” to me is after the 15th day.
