The grass is always green on my side.

FF : My little world of birds

FF is back!! :dancing:

Did you know that I have a mini aviary outside my bedroom, by the balcony? Well, I do! All this thanks to Ted who bought me a bird feeder for my birthday in September. Although their chirping sends me up the wall in the mornings, I must admit that they are quite a beautiful bunch and you’ll soon see why.

Cockatoo

The first cuckatoo who visited us….

2's a company

Then he/she brought a friend along.

Lorkeets!

These are our normal visitors although them turned up in throngs today….surpringly enough.

More here!

More on this end of the balcony.

The lovebirds...

A pair of love birds having a quite romantic brekkie. They travel in pairs and this is the most notorious pair! Chases the rest away all the time.

Crimson lorrkeet

The only crimson rosella who dropped by one day.

Pigeons

These are the scavengers [achelly they are pigeons...irritating specimens!], all waiting in a line to attack my beautiful lorkeets. Damn pandi birds!!

Hope you like my mini bird park. Have a blessed weekend…!!!

So pretty. All I get is pigeons and Jays. None as pretty as yours. Though I do like Jays, especially Blue Jays.

Any problem with the birds’ droppings? hehehe

  8. by QuaVadis, on November 3 2006 @ 10:22 am

Lovely birds, colourful and pleasant chirps but do remember that bird poo are toxic and are harmfull to health, so make sure you clean the area often and wash your hands after you feed the birds or touch anything in the area of the balcony.

Wow!!! B E A U T full!!! I use to own a bird or 2, and cats, and dogs, all at the same time! :) So my bird started Barking like a dog, meowed like a cat, and even beep like the Nokia msg alert.. just couldn’t shut it up.. so had to give it away when the baby arrived, plus can’t have a baby and bird on the same shoulder now can we! hehehe

wow! those are pretty birds!! and they rome around the skies in Aussieland?
but then ahhh…don’t they bother you in the mornings…with all that chirping? At my old apartment, they used to drive me crazy and without fail they wake me up before my alarm goes off!!! :hypnotized:

    happy weekend sweetie!!!

p.s: haven’t seen Saw III yet, but it’s gruesomely GOOD!! You should also watch “The Descent” lotsa gore and blood!!!! :)

You’re so lucky. The only time I see those colorful birds here is when I go to the pet shops. Hey I really would love a cockatoo for a pet. Hope you can catch one and ship to me, hehe. :-D

  19. by J, on November 3 2006 @ 10:59 pm

actually hor i quite scared of birds!! but the birds looks pretty!!!! i have never seen those as pretty as in the pictures.. except in the zoo la! but i do love the look of your compound.. looks really peaceful…

  20. by luxferi, on November 4 2006 @ 12:29 am

Aiyo… cool lah! They’re so colorful as well - very beautiful. Can you touch them? My guess is cannot la…unless you put bird seeds on your hands. :)

  21. by Sweetest Sin, on November 4 2006 @ 12:04 pm

Luxferi : Well, we had tried to reach out to touch then BUT Ted has somehow manage to walk close enough to pour out birdseed for the lorkeets. And I think it’s good enough. I think they are used to human presence and know that human = food so they stay. But if u shoo them often enough, then I think they wont come back lar.

J : Well, we live in a unit on the second floor and u’re right abt it being very quiet and peaceful. It is. I hardly ever see my neigbhours and the pitiful thing is there is a pool right across from us and we can see it but NO ONE uses it!!! Wasted betul….maybe come summer then it will be croweded lar.

SG : HAha….Ted hates them…says they are very noisy but I think not leh. So far the noisy ones are the lorkeets when they fight for food and territory.

Consuela : Yea, these are rather common birds here. Can find them almost everywhere. You’d think them unique eh? But no lar…very common and YES, they are noisy but good oso coz then I dun need alarm clock. I only hate it when they bising on the weekends n I wanna sleep in.

    Sming : Tq, tq.

Wuching : Yar….at first, I found them so nice but it’s starting to irritate me and I cant do much coz Ted loves them and you should see him in the mornings. Sanggup to wake up and put out the birdseeds for them. I cant be bothered!! I want to try n move them to the other balcony, on the other side but I think they wont go there coz no trees in sight n too claustrophobic for them too. *sigh*

Mei : Yea…those are gallahs and VERY noisy!! But pretty eh….

  22. by Sweetest Sin, on November 4 2006 @ 12:28 pm

Chiwi : How right u are! Birds crap on u n babies puke….hhmmm, I wouldnt want to choose either or!! :hehe:

Simmie : Really?? Why arr? I cant remember which bit of Mary Poppins got birds…

Sha : Hehehehe…told Ted that someday I might wanna eat roasted pigeon!! But yes, they are a beaut!

Visi : Well, I tiptoe and make sure that they are too busy eating to notice me but Ted can actually walk towards them n pour them birdseed. The last time I tried, they all went helter-skelter. They must be wondering what this giant godzilla wanted to do them!

Pelf : I oso like the colors but I beh tahan the noise!

QV : Yea, I know but we dont touch them and only go out once in awhile to top up the birdfeeder. Thanks for the advice.

BJ & Che-cheh : Surprisingly no lar….got a bit here and there BUT most of the time, their bum in on the otherside of the railing so all the birdpoo drops OVER the railing n not unto my balcony so I’m not complaining that much lar.

    JoeC :

Khor : Ooooo…havent seen a Blue Jay before but I bet they are pretty!

Azhan : Takde lar….kereta dalam garage.

Aida : Not really…not that much here. Whats a BB gun???

May : Hehehe….doesnt matter lar. A bird is a bird.

  23. by L B, on November 4 2006 @ 5:04 pm

Stunning!!!! Those colors! I get a lot of chirps outside my windows too, both back n front.. sometimes loud enough to drive me crazy, but I still love the sound of them to say all’s almost well outdoors..
