I wanted to blog about this some time ago but as always, I think too much and then all my ideas seem to just dissipate into thin air. Damn irritating….
Sometimes, I think so much about what to blog about and end up with nothing but a splitting headache. Either that or I forget what I want to blog about. I’m always trying to think of something to write about coz there’s always something to write about. I believe my brain works the most in the mornings when I walk to the train station which is some 20 mins away from home. But sometimes, my memory is really bad abd I think I have to go back to the basics - write down whatever ideas that come my way. The thing is, this method works best for me. I’m not like some people who can just start their pc, login and churn up topics for blogging. I’m one of those have-to-think-first kind of blogger. I’m one of those who has to come up with a simple outline and throw in funnies if possible, just to make it interesting for me to read further down the line.
Pushing aside humility and all this side-tracking, I wanted to write about Christmas decorations. A couple of weeks ago, on a local radio station, the DJ was ranting off about how stupid he thought it was to put up Christmas decorations in November, and he wanted people to call up and comment. If they did, he would indirectly ridicule them and if they agreed with him, he must have been over the moon! To be totally honest, I was very offended by it. In fact, I was totally appalled that he came up with this topic in the first place! Sadly, Ted agrees with him although he didn’t ridicule me when I pestered him to buy our very first mini Christmas tree so that I could put it up as soon as possible. That was when the plan was for us to fly back to Malaysia for Christmas and I wanted our home to be a wee bit Christmassy even though we wouldn’t be home for it. I’m not really done with the decorating yet coz at the moment, all we have is a Christmas tree so I plan to get a nice Christmas wreath for the front door and some reindeers for the walls inside and perhaps a snowman or 2.
But I think like many others, putting up Christmas decorations in November [or mid-November] is not wrong or stupid….especially after Deepavali or Raya, which ever comes first. Tell me, what could possibly be wrong/stupid about putting up the decorations early? Are there rules about when you can or can’t put up Christmas decorations? But you know what? I don’t care what people think, I’m all for it coz we’ve been doing that all my life back in Malaysia. But here, nup…..you can’t. You’d have to wait till 1st December before you can start your decorating. It’s weird and I don’t like it one bit. :grouch:
So my question is :
-
Do you think it’s wrong/stupid to put up Christmas decorations early?
-
How early or late do you put them up?
