The grass is always green on my side.

I wasn’t alone…

Turns out that Ted didn’t have to have his sleepover shift last night so he came home, but a wee bit late. I don’t mind him coming home late. It was so nice to see another human after almost the whole day [ok, maybe half the day], all by myself.

Today, he left for his morning shift and will be home in about an hours time so that’s not too bad. I certainly feel the loss of Sis’ presence in the house coz the one signature thing about her is her voice. Her laughter is SO loud, the neighbours actually know when she’s back for the holidays so you can imagine how quiet my unit is now! Not only that, I’ve also lost the mood to cook or do anything coz no kawan. I know, I must sound so desperate and sad and pathetic. Actually, I am..but I’ll overcome it la. Just a short phase so please bear with all my whining and self pity. Sometimes I wonder how people who live on their own ie. LB and May actually cook for themselves.

Perhaps it’s because I don’t have the fiery passion for cooking like they do coz omg, have you seen some of their posts???? Both of them can cook up a tsunami, dun play-play, ok? The dishes they can whip up can guarantee a major drooling session and the best part is, they cook for themselves. Me…..humph, sometimes I’m that lazy that I just eat those instant pour-hot- water, wait-3-minutes and it’s chow time! But today, I was a little bit diligent and cooked up a meal enough for my lunch and dinner. I had a craving for something hot and spicy and smelly. *grin* So I cooked ladies finger with chilli and belacan. It’s one of my favourite dishes and although it’s nothing like what Mum whips up at home, I’m happy that I can taste the belacan. Made some scramble eggs too but my style lar. I chopped up a tomato and some mushrooms then fried with butter. I know it sounds totally whack but  I wanted something else other than ladies finger plus, one dish seems so kesian [pitiful]. Now, I’ve run out of my vegetables ration so I have to make my way out tomorrow to that little Chinese kedai runcit [grocery] nearby and get some greens. AND I need some meat too….I am, after all, a  carnivour.

I have a load of chicken wings and some chops MIL gave me last week but I feel like hot and spicy stuff. I’ve always liked it and it will certainly do my sniffles and keep me warm in this blardy weather. No thanks to the weather and my condition, my sniffles are simply hanging on. I’ve been taking lots of orange juice and eating as much fruit as I can because I refuse to take any meds. Trying to go au naturel….that would be best. So here’s to me getting some good stuff tomorrow and maybe I’ll cook me some soup too….

Ted can’t get over the fact that most of our credit card expenditure is mainly from Coles and Woolworths [these are hypermarkets where I do my food shopping]. Well, baby…..no one said that feeding me was an easy task!! *grins happily*

The trick to cooking up a tsunami is when you know eating out is even more of a hassle/more expensive! Also, cooking is good fun. Repeat that to yourself 20 times, and 20 times again tomorrow.. And, I cook not just for that one meal. It should last for at least another two more days! LOL.. Now go get all those vitamin Cs in you fast!

yea, like what L B said, sometimes it’s more out of economical reasons, or just plain lazy to go out to eat. I’m even lazy to tapau, imagine that! which is why when I cook, it lasts me for at least 3 days… LOL! sometimes sien eating the same thing 3 days in a row lar, but I don’t mind. saves me the hassle of thinking, “hmmm, what to cook today har?”

eh woman, bila nak jumpa? ;-)

I read some where that you need to repeat a certain task for 21 times for it to become habit. Now, that may mean you that need to cook for yourself 21 times, and after that, cooking comes naturally..

Yeah I know, pot calling the kettle black :)

Psst… I forgot to fill in my details, LOL.

Wah, you dare to cook belacan in your kitchen? I cooked the premade sambal by Maggi my sister sent me and my neighbors were out sniffing what was that smell. Hubby had to shut all the doors to the rooms and he lit all the candles and incense he could find. That was the last I cooked any thing with belacan.

dawn : hahaha!! ya, i did. didn’t think it was that smelly though coz it was the maggi granules kind and not the REALLY authentic, paste type. plus i was home alone and it was a work day so no one was around to complain. hehe… :smug:

cindy : well, it was good but not that syiok la coz not the chilli powder i used was so cacat. keeping my mum’s self grounded chilli until i need it.

wuching : i will uncle wuching!!

pelf : you’re right abt the 21 times repetition and i can tell u that i’ve certainly cooked more than 21 times but hehehe…..still tarra boleh lar!
