Archives for August, 2007

Now that Ted and I have a little family of our own, I’ve noticed that we’re spending more and more time planning and thinking of the future and how to protect ourselves from any sort of disaster. One of the things which we have been looking into with great care and concern is home insurance and more importantly at this point of time, life insurance.

With Ella to think about these days, one can never be too sure what the future holds and with all these worries taken care of, we can at least have some sort of peace of mind knowing that if anything should happen to either one of us or if we were to get burgled, we’re covered and taken care of. With 2 out of 3 worries out of our hands….I think I should start bugging Ted to check out Thrifty Scot’s car insurance as well. After all, we got our home and life covered, why not our car as well? :)

Spending the day out

Typically if I were back home in Malaysia, I would still be cooped up at home, strutting around in my sarong, feet all socked up, having the least number of baths a week and perhaps have a head of [stinky] matted hair. This, assuming that my Mum would want me to follow strict after birth pantangs [old wives do's and don'ts]. But because I’m down under, I have pretty much broken almost, if not, every don’t in the book.

Instead of not bathing for a whole week immediately after the birth, I was in a nice hot shower on day 2, only because I was too weak and unstable to get up and walk to the shower any earlier. [Read my wild ride after the delivery.] I washed my hair by day 3 and I have been out and about for my dental and GP appointments 2 weeks after the birth. Food wise, I’ve been trying to be good but still, it’s not easy to follow when specific herbs are hard to come by in this part of the world BUT thanks to Mum, who has been diligently boiling for me some of those herbal teas which keep me warm and Ted buying me DOM, I think I’m not to far off.

Today, I officially had a day out. It was because we had to attend a settling class that I had the chance to step foot into Westfield, one of those huge shopping complexes like Queensbay Mall or Gurney Plaza and had lunch and a tiny bit of shopping. We left Ella home with Mum for a couple of hours and although she acted up a little, Mum didn’t have much problems with her other than having to rock and cradle her for about 2 hours before she hit the sack!! Such a wicked baby…..BUT now that we know some of those settling techniques, we’re all geared up to use it!

It felt good to be out and about. I’ve been indoors for as long as I can remember and only because I just didn’t feel like getting out into the sun PLUS, I’m still a wee bit sore in a place I won’t mention - TMI [too much info] might scare potential Mums away! *lol* But now that I feel almost as good as new, I’m ready to take Mum shopping tomorrow! :D

So Teddy baby…..Ella’s all your tomorrow!! *snigger snigger*

Fun with my digicam!

I got my first ever digital camera from Ted. Back then, it was still something rather new in the market and REALLY expensive so Ted bought me a Genius brand one. It’s not sophisticated but it had the basic function of a point-and-snap action but no memory card. You had to hook it up to the TV or download the pictures straight into the PC. That was then, today, I own a 6.0 Casio EXILIM which I recently purchased.

It’s really a wonder having a digital camera handy and what more with Arianna around, my camera is always at hand. One of my favourite shots of Arianna is one where she is sleeping. I swear you could see tiny white angel wings peeking from beneath her blanket! My cam certain came in handy when Arianna was born too.

But my digital cam is no where near what I hope to one day own. In the future, I see me being the proud owner of a SLR camera, preferably a Nikon D300. OOooo…..I think by then, all I’d be doing the whole day is snapping picture of everything!

My femes little Miss

Wouldn’t you feel proud if someone created a comic which is all about you? Well, Arianna is one of those very lucky ones. Ted has started a little webcomic about her called Kecik! and I invite you to check it out. He’ll be updating them on a daily basis, I hope.

The premiering issue started yesterday.

Ps. The first issue is a little ‘bloody’….in another words, it is graphic but rest assured that the following ones will definitely be more friendly. :)

Realisation

I still find it all still too surreal. I can’t believe that Ted and I now have a little baby of our own. We have a FAMILY. It normally strikes us when either of us are carrying Arianna and looking down at her while she sleeps. For me, it’s like I’m in a world of my own when I’m feeding her.

It’s amazing how I can just sit and stare at her while she sleeps. I bet she finds that extremely disturbing, then again, I think babies were built to take all the staring, poking and prodding while they sleep coz truth be known, I’m constantly staring at her and touching her all the time. It’s a wonder she can actually sleep through it!

I remember  hollering out at Ted the other day while he was surfing and I was feeding Arianna while watching CSI, I said, ‘Baby…..we have a baby.’ And even as I said that, I felt as if I was dreaming….it’s really very bizarre when all of a sudden, you have this small bundle of cute-ness which can turn to a top-notch screaming and pooping machine in your hands in mere seconds. To be frank, it can be quite distressing really.

But I’ve come to realise that there’s nothing I would change about it….

Look into my eyes….

“Look in to my eyes, look into my eyes, not around my eyes, but into my eyes……zap, you’re under!”, and that is what a charater from Little Britain who is a hypnosis says everytime he wants to hypnotise a person. Seems rather easy, don’t you think? I’ve never been hypnotised and I don’t know anyone who can hypnotise people BUT I’ve always wondered how it would be like to be a hypnosis. I bet you could get away with alot of and get what you want, when you want it.

I guess with Hypnosis Coach, I now get the chance to learn hypnosis and perhaps try it out someday. The thing I find most attractive to me personally is the self-hypnosis where I am able to use all of the knowledge to change my OWN life, for the better. I think it’s worth a try…or least, a visit to the site.
