Going home!

Tis true! Tis true!! *dancing on tip toes*

We’ve recently bought tickets for our trip back home to Malaysia. :) I can’t wait to go home……been almost a year since I went home. Can’t believe that 12 months have since past! :D I have to add that that this trip down is going to be rather different and challenging because Ella will be traveling with me. But I’m glad to say that I will have helpers - Mum and Sis who will be down for Ella’s baptism on 8/3/2008.

We will be leaving for Penang on 11/3/2008 and I’ll be around for at least a month - the VERY least! Ted will be joining us later on. When we will return remains undecided and something I don’t wanna think about for now. I’m just savouring the moment and counting the days till we get on that plane! :)

We’ve decided to give Jetstar, a local budget airlines a try so hopefully it will all be ok. The thing is that our connecting flight will most likely be on Air Asia. I would like to get some feedback from all of you - how reliable is it?? I’ve heard that their departures are always delayed so do you think with 3 hours between touchdown from Sydney in KL to the connecting to Penang on Air Asia, will we be able to make it? Bear in mind that we would have to completely check out from Jetstar and then get checked in again on Air Asia.

So all those who have traveled on Air Asia - apa macam? Boleh harap ka?

999? 911? 000?

If you’re wondering what’s with the numbers….well, here’s a question : Do you know what your local emergency number is? I reckon perhaps half of you don’t know or perhaps didn’t bother to find out right? I’ll be totally honest, when my Dad collapsed at home and I had to make that emergency call, I didn’t know what it was. Maybe I did but because of the panic, I forgot and my mind was a blank. My instinct made my fingers dial 911 all because of William Shatner’s 911 tv series back in the 90’s. Of course it didn’t go through and within a couple of minutes, I managed to get my head back on and dialed 999. Even so, it took the hospital such a long time to dispatch an ambulance.

That said, and please correct me if I’m wrong but back home, each department ie fire brigade, hospital and the police department each have their own direct emergency number. I’m not sure that the rational reason behind this is but I think it would be such a bugger to remember them in times of emergencies, you know? Why not just have one number like normal instead of 3? I say that there are 3 numbers because I vaguely recall seeing them in the annual phone books that we get from Telekom. Over here in Australia, I just found out from Ted that the emergency number is 000 and it took me over a year before I found out. It’s funny how we don’t realise how important this number is.

Why am I talking about emergency numbers? Well, I had this freaky dream last night. Sis and I had gone camping and she had gone to take a bath and the next thing I knew, I was in a motel room and this guy was running down the sidewalk screaming ‘bear! bear!’. So I peeked out and saw this HUGE bear running after him with sis in front of the guy!!! I SOOOOooooo panicked and quickly opened the door in time for her to rush in and I slammed the door shut. But the poor guy….the bear caught up with him and dragged him into the truck which was parked by the road side and was pretty much tearing him to pieces. I freaked out and ran to the phone to call for help and I dialed 999. You’d think that I’d get someone on the line asking what the problem was but all I got was…..

‘Nombor yang anda dial tiada dalam perkhidmatan kami….’*

in that monotonous male voice . *pengsan*

Thank god it was merely a dream but there is a lesson to be learned here - ALWAYS make sure you know what the emergency number is. You never know when you’ll need it!

*The number that you have dialed is not in service.

It’s chow time!

I bet the one thing that most of us don’t realise when we have pets is that we are slaves to them but it’s not in a bad way at all seeing how much they love us in return. I bet every wag of the tail or a paw shake melts your heart, doesn’t it? Well, other than playing with your pets, the other way of keeping them healthy AND happy is making sure they get their daily chow, and a nice comfy place to sleep.

At Jeffers pet supplies you can get these and much, much more! They have toys, tick collars, kennels and for this festive season, lots of Christmas gift ideas too. :)

Stumbling along…

Well, not literally la! :)

Thanks to Pelf for ’stumbling’ my customer service post some time ago and introduced me to this whole StumbleUpon business, I think I’m slowly getting addicted to it. [I still have to figure out how to 'stumble' other people's articles/blog/site just as she did mine though....] It’s the same sort of feeling I had when I first joined Facebook [FB] - I got instantly hooked!! But sad to all those pokes and continuous invites to bite people and turn them into Vampires has really taken a toll on moi. lol Not only biting people, there is a whole load of things you can do to each other from throwing sheep at one another to ‘buying’ drinks or naughty toys for your friends too. It’s really very much like Friendster but a whole lot more fun. The one good thing about FB is that it restricts you from viewing the profile of people who are not in your network unlike Friendster, which unless you restrict your account, everyone and anyone can view your profile.

Because of that and the fact that it takes forever for my PC to load those applications, you hardly see me in FB doing things to you. I know, I should make full use of my trusty, dusty sampan paddle more often since it’s been sitting in my closet for eons now, but with a baby on my lap while I try to check my email…worrying about who poked me and accepting invites to do naughty things to each other is the least of my worries. I can’t even find the time to blog in peace these days!! lol Despite losing the fizzle to blog furiously like I used to, I still make it an effort to keep my blog breathing, at least just enough so that my keyboard doesn’t get rusty. ;)

I seem to have diverted from the original idea of this post! Haiyoo…anyway, I just wanted to say that StumbleUpon is my new toy for now. Being totally new to this, I’m really having fun stumbling upon sites that share my interest. This new interest will definitely keep me more busy but at the same time, blogging and emails will not be the only reason I have to be online. :) From my understanding, since I am a newbie to StumbleUpon, it’s simply a system where you are randomly given website or posts in topics that interest you. That really makes reading stuff that you like online easier since you’re being fed it, literally. And if you like what you’re reading, then you StumbleUpon it. I’m assuming that the more you stumble it - that is you click on the ‘I like!’ button, the more it gets around hence, more traffic comes your way, I think. What a great way to work karma, eh? :) But I am still learning about how it works so if I’ve given some wrong info or I screw something up - 1000 apologies!

So, if you also have a StumbleUpon account or am thinking about setting one up, please feel free to add me to your network - would love to check out what you’ve been checking out. O, by the way, you will need to install their toolbar though but not to worry, it’s really hassle free. Well, I’m off to stumble - I can’t seem to get enough of it!! :)

Don’t you just hate it when you’re having fun snapping pictures while on tour and all of a sudden your digital camera goes dead and shuts down? What’s the problem you wonder because you know you had replaced the batteries….then you realise that it was the pair which wasn’t rechargeable batteries! Isn’t that just the worst thing that could ever happen??

Well, from personal experience, I’m done with using those normal batteries no matter how durable they say those batteries are. I’m all for rechargeable ones not only because it saves me money buying new ones every now and then [and you KNOW how fast those cameras suck the energy up] but it’s a good way of saving the environment too, right? So if you don’t have any, go get some at East Coast Photo! :)

Hannah Montana!

Have you heard of Hannah Montana? Neither did I until recently. I reckon she is famous among the kiddies simply because she leads the kind of life that many young teenage girls would love to live. An average teenage school girl by day and a famous teen pop star by night, Hannah Montana is an American Emmy-award nominated children’s tv series so I think it’s quite a watch.

Being such a success, Hannah Montana is taking her show on the road and the best way to get your Hannah Montana tickets is by doing it online.
