Going home!

Tis true! Tis true!! *dancing on tip toes*

We’ve recently bought tickets for our trip back home to Malaysia. :) I can’t wait to go home……been almost a year since I went home. Can’t believe that 12 months have since past! :D I have to add that that this trip down is going to be rather different and challenging because Ella will be traveling with me. But I’m glad to say that I will have helpers - Mum and Sis who will be down for Ella’s baptism on 8/3/2008.

We will be leaving for Penang on 11/3/2008 and I’ll be around for at least a month - the VERY least! Ted will be joining us later on. When we will return remains undecided and something I don’t wanna think about for now. I’m just savouring the moment and counting the days till we get on that plane! :)

We’ve decided to give Jetstar, a local budget airlines a try so hopefully it will all be ok. The thing is that our connecting flight will most likely be on Air Asia. I would like to get some feedback from all of you - how reliable is it?? I’ve heard that their departures are always delayed so do you think with 3 hours between touchdown from Sydney in KL to the connecting to Penang on Air Asia, will we be able to make it? Bear in mind that we would have to completely check out from Jetstar and then get checked in again on Air Asia.

So all those who have traveled on Air Asia - apa macam? Boleh harap ka?

Boleh or tak boleh harap pun sudah terlambat la since you’ve already bought your air tickets, right? So why worry about it?

Just hope for the best la, OK?

i think you’re forgetting that Air Asia flights are at the LCCT terminal which is quite far from the KLIA building. i don’t think 3 hours is enough. Jetstar arrives/departs via the main KLIA satellite building. by the time you get your bags and all, it’ll be an hour after you arrive, then get to LCCT in time for your check-in flight… very mah fan rush lah…

you should check if you can get a later flight with AirAsia. even if it means paying for a flight change. you can pay for a flight change, which is cheaper than missing your connecting flight and paying for whole new tickets.

There is gg to be lots to bring for little Ella and Air Asia charges for every excess baggage. This plus the connection bit, it’s gg to be rather tricky espy since Air Asia and Jetstar are in 2 different terminals. Imagine carrying a baby plus your barang barang and rushing to catch the flight. Quite a challenge.

I haven’t heard good things about Air Asia..so, I guess the advices you’ve been getting are quite reliable. Just make sure you have plenty of time to run from one terminal to another. Enjoy your trip back home. I’m so envious!

air Asia? ha! but ya lor, they land at the LCCT wor, means from KLIA u hv to take cab or shuttle to LCCT to get the air asia plane. I think 3 hours layover, probably scrambling ler but i think should be enough time. and u going alone right? a bit susah, dont bother put Ella in stroller, sling her to your chest or put her in the Bjorn so you hv ur hands free. ask Ted to bring her stroller down if its bulky. you just bring 1 bag enough ler, ask Ted to bring the other bag when he comes so u dont hv to deal with so many luggage.

We took AirAsia yearly (at least twice) to go back hometown in KB, Kelatan from KL. That has been 5 years ++ we using AirAsia. Ocasionally, we travel with Air Asia to Asian destinations for holidays too. So far, we hv only experienced delay twice (some frens think we r just plain lucky). But, we were informed much earlier (few days before departure) by phone about our flights delay. So, with the price we paid, I think it is not bad at all. In the flight, if u hv an infant, u have to hand carry her…so if can, strap her to you with a baby carrier…thats what I did with Zoe and she sleep thru hearing my heartbeat…hehehe. Alternatively, AA provide seat belt that you can strap baby unto u…but not as comfy as a baby carrier.
AirAsia is located at LCCT…a separate low cost carrier terminal (expect warehouse setup, a far cry from KLIA)…so u gotta do a little travelling…at least abt 30 mins…with baby and luggages, you will need some extra time. Try to arrange for someone to pick up quickly. Check-in at AirAsia will usually hv a long queue…bear in mind u need to check-in 1 hour in advance in AirAsia. To be on safe side…I think at least 2 hours of transit time needed from KLIA to LCCT - so u hv 3 hours, shd be okay and can give little Ella a feed before she goes up to the AA plane. Hopefully, she sleep better with a full tummy in the flight. When baby in flight, they get ear block also, so can give her some water to clear her ear if she is awake…else they will get into this confusion state why ear feels funny…some might cry cause of this….
These r the few things I can think of to share with u of my own experience with AA and baby in flight…hope it help ;)
