I’m not sure if I stand alone on this matter but I think it’s a little bizarre to me personally. I’ve not been as active as I would like to on FaceBook [FB], what with the loads of poking I get and I have to poke back to show that I am still alive and now with Christmas just around the corner, suddenly you have all these applications piling in and the numbers are growing like mushrooms all over the place!! I can hardly keep up and that’s being totally humble about it.
It was just a couple of days ago someone added me as a friend and for the life of me, I couldn’t recognize the person despite having his photo in his profile. Not wanting to assume who he was since he also knew a couple of blogger whom I also knew - friends we have in common so to speak, I shot him a message to find out who he was. He hasn’t really replied and I couldn’t be bothered to find out what blog he blogs at either. And THAT brings me to the question - do you really know the blogger behind the blog? Or do you just know the blog ie. you know mistyeiz @ mistyeiz.com BUT you don’t know who Yvy is…get my drift?
I do realise that many bloggers out there blog anonymously but sometimes, when you’ve read them long enough, they turn out to be good friends and you meet up. Hence, they are no longer anonymous, at least to you. Others, well….perhaps there is a reason for the anonymity. To be totally honest, there is merely a small handful of bloggers who are still anonymous to me. Most of them I know by name [when I remember] or have at least a face to attach to the name and blog or we’ve actually met up in real life for a drink or 2. And along this same journey, I’ve also made a few good friends as well.
But it’s really funny when I go through my FB and realise that I don’t recognise some faces but when I read their profile, they blog at so and so and I go, ‘OOOooooo…..that’s that blog!’ or ‘Ooooo….now I know what she/he looks like!’. lol
It’s really funny but at the same time, really makes me think that it’s really almost impossible to remain anonymous unless you really take the steps to make sure you don’t accidentally link your blog to some public profile or vice versa.
