Photo Hunter : Old fashion

photohuntersbz9

I really didn’t know what to post for this week’s theme. Old fashion to me means old stuff…like maybe antiques, 70’s clothes…stuff like that but I don’t really have anything like that so I decided that this is old fashion with a new coat of paint. :) They don’t sell these models anymore and the new ones are just not the same.

I think I mentioned it some time ago and even blogged about it. This is our very own, first hand VW with a new coat of paint.

Moving house

It’s been quite some time since I last blogged and it was mainly due to being business clearing the house for the painters who had come in to paint the whole unit and also for Ted to complete his modding. It’s going to be released in a couple of days so he’s really been working very hard at finishing it as soon as possible because….we’ve got a new place!! :)

Yes, we finally found a nice little unit which is bigger than our current unit and for a lower price. In short, it’s a very good deal and we are really happy and excited about it. We have been looking for a new place since Oct/Nov 07 and I didn’t realise that it would take this long to finally find something we both like. I guess such things take time because it ain’t as simple as buying a blouse where you can return and exchange it for another if you didn’t like it. This new unit is about 10 minutes away from where we currently live and although the area isn’t as nice as the one we are in now, the shopping complex is nearby and a close family friend lives in the next street so you could say that I will have someone spend time with other than Ted. Hehehehe…..no one could say no having a chat over a cuppa, right?

Books

So, yea….I will be busy slowing packing stuff up since we have approximately 6 weeks before the big move but since the painters were here earlier, it was extra incentive for us to start packing our stuff although at that time, we didn’t know yet that our offer would pull through. So, now although 1/4 of our stuff is already in storage, there is still a lot of our things back home which isn’t and hasn’t been packed and I really don’t know where to start. This is the first time I have ever done any moving so it will be an experience for me. Moving my clothes from one country to another is totally different to moving EVERYTHING we own to a brand new place. So, fingers crossed, all will be fine.

More books!

That said, it is a bit of a bugger because this is happening now - not saying that I am not happy with the new place but the timing is a little off because I’ll be heading home on 11/3/2008. So I really hope that with Sis help [she's coming over on 28/2/2008], it will making the moving or unplacking, which ever is applicable at that time, a little easy for me. So excited!!!! :D

Ps. Those are all the books that was taken off the shelved by the painters and 3/4 have been packed. I don’t know where these books came from but all I know is Ted loves books. Maybe once  we’ve unpacked, I’ll show you Ella’s books….. :)

Pps. I’ve uploaded more pix of Ella - go check em’ out!

Photo Hunter : Important

photohuntersbz9

I personally thought that this week’s theme has so many views and meanings to it. I’m really looking forward to see what the other hunters have posted up. It took me some time to decide how I wanted to look at it and what pictures truly depicts and brings out the element of ‘important’. I guess I finally decided that at this point in time and in my life, the following picture is what is most important to me :

Here is Ted [my darling hubby, my rock and shoulder to cry on] having a nap with Ella on my hospital bed, 2 days after she was born  :)  She’s SO tiny here!!!

Nothing is more important than family - blood is thicker than water  :beauty:

I’m not too sure if I’ve mentioned this or not….most likely I have, but we own a 1973 [or maybe older model] of the Volkswagon. It was my Dad’s first and only car, and it was bought first hand, with only one owner - him. Today, my Sis drives it around campus as her mode of transport. As you can tell, this will always be ours to own as we are not planning on selling it. We’ve had dozens of offers to get it off our hands but nup, we love her to bits and we don’t intend to sell it at all.

Recently Sis got into 2 accidents - one where a drunk driver knocked into the back bumper and the other,  a more scary and serious accident was when a trailer smashed her on the side. Praise the Lord that she didn’t have a single scratch on her despite the major damage done to the side of the car. To be more precise, her side of the car. Many say that she is lucky to be alive - I say it’s a miracle, divine intervention, that the Lord always looks after His sheep.

With such extensive damage done, we decided that it was time to give the ol’ girl a new face lift and she was given a new coat of paint along with some un-denting works. This VW has always been white from the time she was purchased. So seeing it in a different colors was really weird for me personally but I guess you get used to it…..

So, whaddaya think?

Fancy-smancy wedding photos

Take a look at these photos and tell me what you think :

I got it from a fwd mail a friend sent me and I personally find no appeal in it at all! I’m sure this couple loved it otherwise they would not have agreed to do this but I still prefer the simple photos taken at the studio. I know it’s the current trend to be all over the place to get your shots ie. by traffic lights, in fields of lalang grass, by the beach, in hotel restaurants…you name the spot, they got it covered, BUT…not to my fancy at all although I’ve seen some pretty good wedding pictures like I’ve mentioned but it was for us.

When Ted and I talked about wedding photos, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘No outdoor shots!’. I found it to be a hassle and although I knew that it would be a once in a life time thing, both of us agreed that we couldn’t bear it. Truthfully, even the studio shots we took, I found stressful enough - ‘Lean to your right, boy’, ‘Girl, smile…put your hand here/there/left/right’, ‘Boy, pretend you kissing Girl’. Gawd, it was hilarious as much as it was taxing! lol Our photos were simple and nice [although I would not recommend my photographer to anyone - THEY RIPPED US OFF!!]. The ones we picked were made into a small album and given to my Mum, Ted’s mum and one for ourselves.

We didn’t bother getting them in big, heavy albums or blow them up because I knew that it would be the case of hangat-hangat tahi ayam [hot-hot chicken shit] = something that last for but awhile. And this was told to me by married colleagues and friends. People go ga-ga over wedding photos the first 3 months of marriage and then, the albums just sit in the cupboard, collecting dust. Some one told me that they regretted getting those expensive packages because now, they’ve stuffed in it the store room! So with that in mind, we got what we wanted, and was/am happy with it.

For the record, our wedding album now sits in the cupboard, at the bottom of a pile of Ella’s photos that we’ve been printing but have not put in new albums. Hehehe…I think the only person who is making full use of the album and showing it off is Ted’s mum. :)

Hair, hair, everywhere!

It’s bad enough having a [almost] botak baby but now, I think I’m going botak too!! And I mean this literally….there is hair everywhere I go. *Me is very sad* :( I remember when I was pregnant, I expected a lot of hair loss because the baby sucks up all the good stuff out of you to develop but it didn’t really leave me with this much hair loss. Then there was rumours that when baby looses her/his hair, mum suffers too. I think this is something that can be applied to me at the moment.

I remember not too long ago when I first came over and my hair was just failling out like crazy, Ted said that I was molting and I actually bought it but now that it’s been happening for far too long. I’m beginning to think that this is not the case :( I’m rather sad about this horrible loss not only because I love my long hair and Ted loves it too but it’s just scary to think that one can loose that much hair in one day. It’s supposedly common to lose 100 strands a day from combing, washing and flicking [Hehehe...ya, you know you do it!] but I think I’m losing so much more than that!! And when I mean hair everywhere, I really mean EVERYWHERE. Everytime I comb my hair, a handful of hand can be picked out from my comb    Where my head lies, there is hair, and more hair :what: :what: :what:

At this precise moment, I’m seriously thinking of chopping off my locks, after all, hair grows back right? This is my common sense talking but my feminine side tells me that I shouldn’t because hair maketh the woman - or least that’s one of the things that makes me more feminine la. I used to always have short hair when growing up because it was troublesome for me to keep it tidy and I hated and still do, hate leaving my hair down. It bugs the hell out of me especially when the winds blows the wrong way and it gets into my face, mouth, eyes, nise….eeeeeyerrr…. - and it always does when I have my hair down hence, I’ve always preferred short hair. That said, I’ve had this hair style for as long as I can remember and those of you who have met me in person would have noticed that I normally either have my hair tied up in a pony tail or more often, just into a bun, a high Granny bun :P I hardly ever leave my hair down despite getting many compliments about my natural curls. You’d think that the decision would be easy, right? Nup!!

So, here I am back at the crossroads - should I cut my hair or not :???:
