With Valentine’s Day and Ted’s birthday just over - it’s 2 big occasions out of the way but I still have a couple of major birthdays coming up ie Mum’s and Sis’s. Ever since I was a kid, I used to personally make my own greeting cards to give Mum and Dad for their birthdays as well as for Mother’s and Father’s Day and I must say that it made me feel very proud when Mum would stick it on the wall just above the her writing table. It gave me a personal sense of satisfaction and appreciation from her simple yet meaningful gesture.
I’m not sure what spurned this love of making greeting cards as it never wore off until quite recently. Perhaps it’s due to the lack of time and dead braincells or perhaps I’ve just lost it, but I really miss making personalized greeting cards because it’s well, personalized!
When I lost interest in making cards as in starting from scratch, I made sure I had some other greeting cards program installed so that although it’s not THAT personalized, at least I could still have my way with the wordings and part of the designing. And even that has gone out the window since I came to Sydney because Ted and I share the same PC hence, I don’t want to bog down the puter with my heavy graphics since Ted has his modding and relies heavily on the PC. Hate to be the one to break it coz then he will break me after that! *lol*
I really hope that once we settle down in our new place and Ted sets up the new PC which we bought during Christmas, I can then install some of my stuff there or even in here depending on what his plan is and how he wants to go about stuff. At the moment, this PC is a mess and trying to explain it would be a disaster.
All in all, I would really like to get back into the habit of making my own cards again because it was really fun and I personally get nice high from seeing my card being appreciated. Have you made personalized cards for your family or friends? What was their response? And with the response you got, are you encouraged to continue the art?

che-cheh : o dear - that must have been quite devastating for u! i mean, the cards i made weren’t all that nice but you know, my mum loves anything we do so even if she thought it wasnt nice, she still put it up. i think it’s all about giving a boost to our ego! lol

I have not made a card for my parents since I left primary school. But after reading your post, it is a great idea to make one for my mom and dad’s day- they will be really surprised then! Thanks for the idea, and I hope you will get the motivation to get into the swing again. Good luck!
