I’m not too sure if I mentioned it before but Ted has this obsession over birds particularly the rainbow lorikeet which can be found in abundance here in Sydney. When we first moved into our current unit, we had so many birds come up to our balcony. Despite being wild lorikeets, obviously being in the suburbs got them used to humans and I guess they trusted us enough that we were handfeeding them for awhile.
Even over at MIL, Ted who has that magic touch, managed to get those birds to eat out of his hand. According to him, when a bird swopped out of no where and landed on his head [tis trul!], it was the greatest moment in life, supposedly above our marriage and Arianna’s birth. I really hope he was joking…. =P

The occasional cockie would also drop by.

But after sometime, the numbers dropped dramatically and now, we only get the dominant pair and their young one and occasionally, a stray pair will drop by. It’s rather sad since Ted really finds joy in feeding them nectar and birdseed, and apples too. But thankfully [or not] he has found another way of satisfying his obsession - collection anything that is in the form of a bird or has a bird on it…..

These are the stickers we got just yesterday.

Our fridge magnet collection is partly my obsession as well. This is nothing compared to what I have back home in Malaysia!
Albie should know…. Notice that the top shot is what’s everything on the fridge and the bottom is just the magnets.

Finally, Daddy’s trying to recruit Arianna with a bird notebook!
Well, hope you enjoyed my Show & Tell this week. Have a good weekend…. *muaks*

Today’s Valentine’s Day……have you something special planned for your loved one[s]? For us, nothing is planned and today is like any other day for me really. Ted got me a lovely card, a rose scented gift set of candles and a moveable clothes rack which I have been talking about for ages. So yes, I am VERY happy with all the gifts I have receive even though no physical rose is in sight - I have many on the gift bag.
But you know what, I honestly don’t mind it at all because I know how bloody expensive roses are today - they charge you an arm and a leg for a rose, that’s just insane! And guys, seriously…..it IS a waste of money and sadly, I can’t offer you any other alternative ideas but to buy her something she wants. And unless you know your woman well enough or have been observant [HAHAHA!] enough to notice what she’s been talking about for what seems like a lifetime, then I guess you’re in trouble for you are sure to buy something that is going to end up at the back of the closet and not to be found this in century. But look on the bright side though, once found it will be considered an antique.
But if you’re not the buying kind or can’t think of anything to get - cook up a meal that ends with dessert for her/him. Get all romantic and place candles on the table, a rose in a long neck vase [perferably one which you've been growing in the last year or so though mine would never have survived sad to say], some wine [sparkling Ribena is ok to if you're allergic to alchohol] and some Barry White in the background [unless My Chemical Romance rocks both your boats]. Be sure that the dessert has lime in it [if possible la] because from personal exeperience….*ahem* let’s just say that it makes kissing a helluva lot yummy!!
Soooooooo…..what did I get for Ted? Well, I have very good excuse for getting the bare minimum - I’m home with bub so I did manage to sneak out to get him a card and a bar of dark chocolate which he loves so guess I didn’t do THAT bad.
In any case, hope that today and everyday is like Valentine’s Day for you - filled with lots of love, hugs and kisses.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you’re looking for a Commercial Mortgage? To me, it would be to find out what interest rate would we be locked into and whether or not it should be a fixed-rate or a flexible one. Based on research in the UK, more and more borrowers in the UK are opting for fixed-rate mortgages compared to the flexible.
Over here in Sydney, the interest rate for home loans have been skyrocking and it’s hardly good news to anyone. I guess a lot of people will soon be having a lot of problem repaying their mortgage if they did not foresee this situation. I guess when one faces this situation, a fixed-rate deal would certainly be a blessing whereas if it was flexible, perhaps the impact would be worst. I’m not home loan expert but common sense always reminds me whatever the deal that is being offered, one should always think thoroughly before signing up and always think in long term and not short term because no one wants to be living on the street under any circumstance.

Theme for PH this week is ‘heavy’. I would have loved to post a pix of myself but if I did, you’d say I was cam-whoring!
So I decided to spare your eyes since I’m not really a sight for sore eyes and post this ‘heavy’ machine that we saw during last year’s Australia Day.

If memory serves me right, this is called a steel Ferret. Sarge, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Happy weekend y’all!
Ps. Do drop by Arianna’s blog - I’ve updated her pictures! :beauty:

They say that old is gold and frankly, I couldn’t agree more. My mother in law has so many beautiful things stored that I had to pick and choose the things that I wanted to share today. Being my first Show & Tell, I hope I don’t screw up!
I’ve been a fan of antiques for as long as I can remember. This is perhaps due to my mum liking old things from the past. She has quite a collection herself. As for me, being recently married and having a new place of our own, nothing much is antique except the 2 easy chairs and the side board which belonged to the in laws. So in that sense, I have a wee bit of antique at home but nothing compared to the treasures she has at home!!

Love this chair….especially the tile in the middle.

According to Ted, this clock is a lot older than another one which stood beside it. Not too sure if it would still work - I believe you’d have to wind [sp] it up to get it going.

This is another piece of treasure, the wash basin, which I love. Check out those designs on the side.

The table and those brass pots are both family heirlooms. She even has this lamp shade from the 1800s! [From memory that is....]

Aaaahh….who could forget this?
We used to have one just like this. And mind you, this phone still works! Gave me quite a jolt when it rang the other day.
