The grass is always green on my side.

Archives for July, 2008

Browsing through the weekly TV guide today and I noticed that so many reality tv programs are being aired. Other than Big Brother and Biggest Loser, which I waited till the last few episodes to watch and follow up, I am really not into reality tv at all. It really makes me wonder how much of it is literally ‘real’. [Real means true and actual; not imaginary, alleged, or ideal.] So based on that, how can anyone live/act normal at all? I’m sure a big part is really all put on and hats off to those who can really play the part well.

These are the shows that are currently playing on the local channels here :

  • The Amazing Race
  • You’ve Got The Job
  • Cheaters
  • The Bachelor
  • Wife Swap
  • The Farmer Wants A Wife
  • Ladette to Lady
  • Judge Judy
  • So You Think You Can Dance
  • Queer Eye For The Straight Guy
  • America’s Next Top Model
  • Big Brother [Over and the winner was Naughty Nana!]
  • Biggest Loser [New season coming soon]
  • Backyard Blitz
  • Trinny and Susannah Undress
  • I’m a Celebrity….Get me out of here!
  • Australian Idol [New season coming out soon]
  • Hell’s Kitchen
  • The F Word
  • Australia’s Got Talent
  • Drawn Together

This is just a weekly dose, not taking into consideration what’s coming up in the near future. Makes you really think what we choose to watch these days eh? Sometimes I forget that I’m not into reality tv but when it is practically shoved down your throat, you really have no choice. After all, it’s either reality tv or reruns that have playing for as long as I can remember. Just how many times do I have to watch them replaying The Simpsons and Friends???? Bring back The Golden Girls anytime wei!

The list that I made barely touched the surface of the number of reality tv show out there. Check out this list and be sure that you are seated when you open the page.

No idea what long johns are? For the full explaination, go here but in short, it’s a one piece long undergarment but it can be 2 pieces too, and worn mostly for winter time. It’s winter now and it’s been freaking freezing!!!

Not one who loves this cold weather, I would most likely put 2 layers on long johns then followed by my normal flannelette PJs and 2 pairs of socks. Lord only knows what I would be wearing in winter if I were in London!!! *pengsan* But for now, I’m still surviving on just my PJ and 2 pairs of socks - a normal length one and Ted’s footy socks which come up to my knees.

Yesterday, was quite bad with the high winds and rain - aiyo, terrible la. Both Arianna and I have been stuck at home because I can’t bear to think of even stepping out of the house. Thankfully the sun is now out but it won’t be long la. In Sydney, we sometimes get 4 seasons in a day so can’t say for sure that the sun will still be around in the next 1/2 hour or not. *sigh*

A Postcrosser in NZ said she’s seen some spring flowers popping out so that is SUCH good news for me - spring is coming!!! :) That’s my fav season of them all but one which Ted dreads because of hayfever and he is very prone to it. For now, have to just tahan la…..poor me!!!

The worst is getting into a cold bed when you are ALREADY cold. *pengsan pengsan pengsan*

Wish I had this back then

Did you suffer from acne when you were growing up? If you have always had flawless skin, then you should be thankful. I had a bad case of acne and skin condition while I was growing up and every day was a living nightmare for me. Not only did I get teased at school, my self esteem was rock bottom.

I had tried many acne treatments but they didn’t work for me but I’m glad that there is something new out there now for teen or adults who are now suffering from acne.

My new best friend

I had become a fan of Big Brother recently and I have to say that the one thing I found to be an encouragement for me to get up and workout is the fact that the treadmill was such a hit in the House. Being one who is not entirely turned on by exercising nor of going to the gym for my workout, I knew that doing the treadmill was something I’d gladly take up.

So big thanks to the House Mates of BB 08 - you got me up and working out!

Time to change our AC

For the past month or so, our car’s air conditioning has been acting up. Actually, it’s been going on for a long time but it got worst recently and after a check at the service station, we were told that the problem was with the air conditioning compressor. I’m not mechanic but I do know that this is something we need to fix as soon as possible.

So we have managed to get an appointment with the mechanic to get this fixed. Can you imagine not having any AC during summer??? [Assuming that we never got this fixed.]

Just when I thought I definitely had to skip this week’s Photo Hunters theme, hanging, since I couldn’t find that one particular picture I had in mind which was to be a hanging bridge amongst the mountain of CDs I have stored….I found more than I expected. :) Since I couldn’t decide which one to post, I’m doing all 3.

I can’t remember what type of monkeys these are but they sure are hanging off the edge just to get a sip of water. If I am not mistaken, they are a native of China. But I could be dead wrong! :P

These are spider monkeys and they are known to be very playful. And it is quite obvious as they are seen here hanging from branches, and swinging from one branch to another.

This particular shot was taken during the festive season called Deepavali also known as the festival of light that is celebrated by the Hindus. These stalls were selling lots of decorations hanging from the top which will certainly brighten up any home. :) They are very colorful aren’t they?

All three shots were taken in Singapore during my trip there in 2005 - it’s been awhile no doubt but the memory is still fresh as Ted and I got engaged on Oct 2005. :) Happy times.

Hope you enjoyed that - have a good weekend!
