The grass is always green on my side.

I had posted up some of my wedding picture on FB and as usual, I got a couple of comments which I enjoyed reading as some of the commentors happened to be my guests. :) It was nice to walk down memory lane like that. One of the pictures showed Ted and I standing outside the function hall talking to our guests and if I hadn’t mentioned that we were actually getting ready to go in instead of sending our guests off, no one would have known! I have attended many receptions where the couple actually stand outside the hall and send off their guests.

Although I have nothing against people doing that, I personally am not in favour of it as I feel as if I’m being shooed away instead of being given the choice of when I’d like to leave. *lol* The thing that still upsets me was that my plan to enter the function room on time didn’t work out. We were supposed to walk in at 7.30pm but at 7.30pm, people were still strolling in as if it was still early and we were already waiting to walk in hence, we ended up talking to the guests.

I thought that I could have started a new trend of getting this whole punctuality thing going since it hardly ever happens at weddings but nup, it didn’t happen because people took their time and were not there when they should have been. I’m sure that if everyone had arrived as planned, I could have walked in at 7.30 sharp and prove a lot of people wrong - that it WAS possible to be on time.

On one hand I understand why people purposely arrive late because I personally have had many bad experiences where dinner was served so late that you’re practically starving and just waiting to walk out door - because the couple so slow la, dunno doing what, taking their own sweet time to make their grand appearance! But  we weren’t and that was the main reason why Mum and I agreed that come what may, we walk in at 7.30pm and dinner to be served at 8pm. Alas, it was not to be BUT dinner was quite prompt from memory. Sometimes I really wonder if it’s ever possible to change people’s mindset and attitude about this. My question is other than the following poll which I’d like you to join is : Is it possible for a wedding reception to take off on time?

Punctuality
When invited for a wedding reception, do you arrive on time for the dinner?

Yes

No - but I have my reasons [Pls share in your comment]
