I was watching Australia’s Funniest Homevideos and one segment was solely focused on the very famous pie in the face act. Although it looked funny and it most probably was to those watching, I highly doubt the receiver/pie-d face found it amusing at all. In fact, most of it took place during weddings. What could be worst?? Imagine your wedding dress/tux covered with icing!! That is just plain horrid. Worst still if it was a rented one and you could get the pink stain out, you’d be done for it.

I used to think that it was funny to rub cream on other people’s face because I was the do-er so heck with the other person’s feeling. It wasn’t until it happened to me personally that I realised how I never ever want this to happen to anyone else. It was my 21st birthday and Mum ordered a black forest cake for me. Back then, it was the
‘in’ cake so it was a little pricey. After most of the older folks had gone home, some of the younger ones were still around and as usual, we were goofing around and before I knew it, some one held me from behind and someone else took the remainder of the cake and pretty much rubbed in on my face.

I was horrified and my mum was totally pissed! Firstly, there was a fair bit of cake left and we could have kept it and had it for tea with my aunt the next day but now it was ‘contaminated’ so it had to be thrown out. Secondly, I have allergic skin and extremely prone to acne and it was even worst when I was younger so having cream on my face was not what I would consider a proper facial product. Thirdly, I was ‘creamed’ by friends older than me who you would have thought would be more matured and thought ahead before pulling a stunt like that. Although I’m sure they did it because they thought it was funny but the consequences was not. With Mum pissed, it was the last time I ever called them to our party.

So yes, although it may be funny to watch as a spectator, it’s not as funny when you’re on the receiving end. So next time you feel like rubbing cream on your friends face, put yourself in their shoes before you do it and imagine if you’d be pleased with that or not. Because I can assure you, no one likes pie in their face.

  1. I had icing and cake on my face and hair after my wedding reception. Those darn teenagers were a handful. I think I used the whole bottle of shampoo to get the icing off my head.
