I think most of you would know that I’m no chef. Despite loving all the eating : I live to eat, but I cook to live. lol Yea, I only cook because I have to. Anyway, since I started to be more adventurous the last month or so, I’ve been on a roll to a certain degree. My lastest experiment is a Chocolate Banana Cake, my way. *lol* The main reason why I wanted to try this was because I didn’t want to throw out the bananas and also the fact that Ted bought some Dark Choc Melts so I thought what the heck, I’m going to wing it!

The original recipe is from Cadbury’s but since I don’t really have a perfect complete pantry which everyone else seem to have, I just made do with what I had.

Choc banana cake
Overall, I think it turned out ok. Ted and Arianna both shook their head with mouthfuls when I asked them how it was, so since my taste panel agrees that it’s ok, means it’s ok la. :P

The substitutes which I did was that I used melted Melts [choc pieces which I melted in a glass bowl over hot water] and just stirred it in at the last minute. Actually, I stuffed the Melts up as some water got into it so it sort of hardened up! *lol* So it’s all chunky which on the flip side was a good thing coz every mouthful or so, you’d get a chunk of dark choc. :D I also reduced the amount of sugar. When I poured the sugar out, I thought it was way too much….looked scary really so I only use about 3/4 cup instead. With the ripe banana and choc, the sweetness is just nice. I didn’t bother with the pecan nuts or cinnamon sugar either. But I did add some Vanilla Essence. Why? I really don’t know but since all cakes seem to have it, I just threw it in for the heck of it. LOL

The texture is a little heavy but yet, moist. Now, I’m not so sure if it’s meant to be like that or perhaps the cake not THAT cook. LOL Coz I was using my FlavaWave you see? I don’t have an oven ma, so I just make do with what I have. Next time I think I’ll use a flat bake pan instead of a loaf one.
