The past few times I made my way back to my hometown in Kluang, I had always missed the chance of having one of my favourite breakfast there, the all famous Kluang Railway Station Roti Bakar [Toasted Bread].
Kluang may be a small town right smack in the middle of Johor but it has a very well known railway line where this famous coffee shop is located.

A couple of views of this coffee shop. Throngs of people come by daily and it’s ALWAYS busy from the moment the doors are open till they close. You can see the queue of people waiting for a seat. There is small open air space at the side but it’s not as comfy as inside of course ~ hot mar…

 THIS is the famous roti bakar [toasted bread] with homemade kaya & butter, paired with their just-as-famous coffee. See the butter and kaya oozing out?  BEST!!
It’s amazing how long people are willing to wait to have the coffee and bread. My cousin and I waited nearly 1/2 hour before a seat became vacant. Thankfully, the people in Kluang are slightly courteous and did not cut into our queue. Everyone kept to their queue which was somewhat of a miracle to me.

A pix of me and Gabriel, a childhood pal’s son. Love the classic Coconut Tree hairstyle. It will never be outdated!
Here are some shot Sis took while we were at the stable at UTM. I couldnt resist feeding the horses there.
Don’t mind the overdressing bit, we went there directly after receiving her scroll and the studio snapping session.

Me feeing Billy, he’s skinny here as he wasn’t feeling well for sometime.

Me being pally with Teruna, he kind of ‘blessed’ my hand with his booger when he did that thing horses like to do…can’t explain it but I think you know what I mean. It’s like a sneeze but not really….

My, my, my….never knew I would survive this last trip down to Johor! I’ve walked up and down a 4 storey hostel and now, I’m as fit as a fiddle! Well, at least I can say that my stamina has built up a bit ~ was huffing and puffing the first time I took that death-walk up the stairs and stopped a few times along the way. But the last time I did it, I did it at one go; non-stop. :dancing: Hurray for me!
So, Sis has finally graduated from Uni ~ Congrats SIS!! You deserve it….she worked real hard and she made it. Now she’s getting back on the horse and doing her Masters.
Happy for her lar but like I said, it leaves me in a dilemma thinking of Mum all alone here but here’s hoping that Sis will come visit as much as possible and that the year will fly by as fast as possible. She finishes her paper next October. Not too far off I guess.
No problems on the bus with the trip to and fro, praise God for that! But the convo itself was such a torture!! UTM has been having convos for the past, give or take 15 yrs and YET, they still have not come up with a more systematic and proper way of getting people/parents into the hall. I felt I was part of a herd of cows being guided into the kandang [pen]. People/parents were jostling and pushing to get into MY line and I was not amused by it. Made sure NO ONE cut into my line. I may be a girl dont mean I cant defend my queue. I was actually quite pissed and getting sick and tired of the wait and not only that, it was stinking hot and the humidity wasnt being much of a help either.
Once we reached the entrance after waiting in line for about 40mins, we had to climb up 2 storeys before actually getting a seat. Even then, the hall wasn’t really that well air-conditioned. Wearing a baju kebaya in that kind of heat is NOT a good idea, lemme tell ya that! But despite all the physical pain that Mum and I went through, I wouldn’t miss it for the world! Watching my baby sis get her scroll [without stepping on her baju kelawar/penguin suit and falling flat on her face in front of 1000 people]….priceless.

Pesta Convo being held in this huge area. Had loads of stuff from the way it looks but didnt have the time to check it out. Sis said its like a super huge pasar malam/night market, which I believe it it.

Getting ready to hit the hill. This was at 7am and we woke up at 5am to get ready. It was a LONG walk uphill. UTM has REALLY got to make things easier for parents….

The corner where Mum and I sat. Thank God for the big screen or we would have missed THE moment.

YAY!! The proud n happy family. [Btw, I hate how I look in this pix, I should have tied my hair up but I have stand proud for Sis.]

The very famous gerbang pintu UTM [UTM main entrance into the campus]. Each and EVERY student HAS to take a pix here so you can imagine the crowd!

Nothing would be complete for Sis if there wasn’t a horsey picture. That’s Sapphire, nice and well-mannered horsey.
The convo was on Monday and we arrived home yesterday morning. Didn’t do much yesterday although I had planned to start my packing. Sadly, there are some hiccups with the freight charges….so things are not looking too good.

Hehehehe…..I’ve managed to squeeze in a coupla minutes while lepakking [hanging out] at my Lil Sis’s room at UTM. For once her network is working ok now ~ konon lar U Teknologi M. She’s having her convo on Monday. We arrived here yesterday and have been pretty much doing nothing but eating and sleeping! Lol
I’ve been eating to my hearts content especially all those Johor dishes which I miss so much ie. lontong [This pix has some topping which I prefer to do without.] and my Aunt’s wildboar curry. I’m such a woman of pleasure these days. It, however won’t last for long lar. I just saw the unit Ted has placed an deposit for ~ looks very nice n homely but it will cost us so, bye-bye leisure time once I settle myself down in Oz. *sigh* Back to the grind for me!
I cant tell you what a GREAT feeling it is to have a place to call our own, our home. Can’t wait to start decorating the place!
Ps. In case you’re wondering what is so huge….UTM is!! :hypnotized:Aiyo, it’s easily the HUGEST local uni I know of! If you dont have any transport, can die standing lor!!! Got their own ‘highway’ too….happening!
Note : Alamak…I got wrong info lar and go ahead of myself!
I thought we already had the unit in hand but actually, we just submitted our application. *Malunyer* But here’s hoping the application goes through.

Woooohoooo!!! :dancing: Who would have thought that Kulim, of all places would have the WORLD’S longest tree top/canopy walk!!! Happening or what?!
I couldn’t possibly miss the chance of experiencing this, could I? So Ted & I jumped unto the bandwagon and together with uncles and aunties and a cousin, we took a ride to Sungai Sedim to experience the WORLD’S longest tree top/canopy walk.

So much to blog, so little time!! :grrr: But I will make it through, I’m sure I will. There are a couple of things I need to blog about namely the time when Ted & I got jerk around in KL the last weekend and also our little trip to the treetop canopy walk ~ the longest treetop canopy walk in the world I hear. I’ve lived in Penang for a number of years while I was studying and even then, there are so many places in Penang I’ve not step foot yet. Muka Haid was one of them.
With my aunt and uncle from Sydney down for the wedding and then a holiday, my family and I were somewhat tourists guides for the last month or so. I find it a good oppoturnity for me to experience parts of Penang I’ve only heard about. It’s funny how being a ‘native’ [somewhat], you don’t really visit touristy spots until someone comes along and makes you take them and THEN you realise, hey this place is great! This is pretty what much what has happened to me since my aunt [Angie] and uncle [Dave] came down. I’ve been to places I’ve only heard people talk about and to physically be there ~ awesome.
We spent the whole of Friday drving around Penang Island. Our trip started off with 2 cars driving to the End Of The World down at Teluk Bahang where the jetty is located in this rather old fishing village. This area was badly damaged by the tsunami and the restaurant called End Of The World was washed away. It has since reopened under a new management and is currently located near the Teluk Bahang roundabout ~ can’t miss it, it’s the only one there.

Golly, can’t believe that I haven’t had the time to blog properly nor read the blogs I normally frequent. So sad lar…
But worry no more, I’ve finally found some time on my hands as Ted has left for Sydney this morning. I’ve got about 3 weeks grace of ’singlehood’ in my hands so I better make the most of it.
I know many of you are SO teh excited about our honeymoon. Rest assured that although we enjoyed it, it could have been better. I’ll let Ted tell you all about it while I put up the pix instead.

The hotel [Don't let looks deceive you ~ the damn pool was shut under maintenance all the time we were there and no apology was given nor offered. Like Ted, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.]

The bridal bed : Cute but the motive didn’t last long.

The couple in one of their best shots.

Appropriate or not? Fisherman waiting for his catch.

A view while on the beach. We stayed on the mainland not Pangkor Island in case you were wondering. I SHOULD HAVE got us a hotel on the island. *sigh*

A Pangkor sunset.
All in all, it was a stay in bed, lazy holiday as it should be. A well-deserved one after all the hustle and bustle preparing for the wedding and all. It would have been great if not for those rather major hiccups.
O, by the way…Lucia, Anjali & Bunny wrote about our wedding…so sweet lar.
