Didn’t I say that I was on a movie marathon?
Well, here are the most recent ones that I caught over the last 2 days. Bear in mind that I was not privileged to sit through these movies at one go ie. the whole movie one at a time. It has to broken in to various sessions based on when Ella was asleep of course. Kesian kan?
Perfume : The Story of a Murderer

I sincerely found this movie to be unique and simply beautifully made. It’s different and I totally recommend it. It’s got loads of femes actors too. If you’re worried that it contains bloody scenes, don’t worry. Nothing of that sort in here. In fact, a number of scenes allows you to use your imagination as to why and what happened. So, it’s all good.
Catch it if you can…Uncle Ho pun jadi la!

Black Dahlia [Ulli Lommel]

If you ever see this on the rack at your local video store, just turn away and run the other way!!! It was SO painful to watch as in, it was THAT bad. My mistake when I didn’t catch the video guy when he confirmed if I wanted this ‘crap’ instead of the other Black Dahlia starring Josh Harnett. I should have taken note but I was having one of those ‘I want to watch gore n bloody movies’ day so hence, I took no notice. My very BIG BAD. Blek!! I should have realised that it was going to be bad….Ulli Lommel is after all a low budget horror films director. His Zodiac Killer was another ‘painful’ one and I can’t believe I sat through BOTH his movies…..what to do? Sometimes I’m just so cruel to myself….
Anyway, the plot was a continuous repeat and haiyolar….just bad la. Really. I can’t even bear to write a review about it. Just read it here.

Ever since Ella was born, I couldn’t wait to get a video rental account going at the nearest ever video store in my area - it’s just around the corner of our unit and the minute we did, I’ve started watching all that I had to keep on hold because I was carrying Ella. You know the drill….no scary/bloody/gory/’ugly pictures/movies or things when pregnant so hence, I’ve been holding back like a good daughter.
But now that I don’t have to anymore, I’ve unleashed the ‘demon’ within and my floodgates are just bursting!!!
The first movie I caught was Texas Chainsaw Massacre : The Beginning.

I don’t really need to tell you that this movie was plain gore and blood. It looks so real that I was literally sucking in my breath as this psycho killed and dismembered his victims. Very scary la….in a disgusting kind of way. Certainly not for the faint of heart - I watched this only because I’ve watched a few other TCM movies previously.
That said, it’s quite pitiful because I think Tommy [the psycho] would have been ok if only he was treated as normal despite the facial disfiguration. Really pitiful…
The whole story here.
The Reaping

I had to missed this and watch Sunshine and I don’t have to tell you why, do I? For the record, I hated Sunshine and had my fair share of say in my movie review about it if you check out my archives. As for The Reaping…what can I say? I’m a sucker for religion based movies so I enjoyed it very much.
I must say that the ending caught me by surprised because I thought it would be the same ol’ classic ending but I liked the twist. Don’t know if you would have figured it out or not but I sure hell didn’t! I’m quite sure if Ted was there while I was watching it, he would have blurted out the ending and killed it for me for he has been right in most endings so thankfully he wasn’t. Hehe…

The moment I knew Saw 4 was going to be aired, I was so excited but they didn’t mention when it will be out. Then 2 days ago, the trailer was played on telly!!!! It’s opening at cinemas on 25 Oct!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!! *dancing dancing*
Although the 2 main characters, namely Jigsaw [whose head is on the weighing scale in the poster] and Amanda are no longer in the movie which is sad coz they were the ones giving it that ‘zing’, I’m really looking forward to see how the movie is going to be like. I guess the main element of playing a game is still there but the plot is slightly different now.

I’m really not sure what to expect but I had to check out what was stated in Wikipedia and I found out that that there is even a Saw 5 and Saw 6 in the making…..frankly, I think this is getting to be a little too excessive. I think it should stop at Saw 3. Although I’m very excited about Saw 4, I’m just afraid that it might spoil the first 3 movies for me. I mean, pulling it up till Saw 6 is well, crazy but in the same light, I’m wondering how it’s going to be like in the end!!

All in all, I think no matter how bad the movie is, I’d still be faithful and catch the remaining Saw movies…..I just can’t help loving blood and gore!

I’ve never been a fan of mob movies but The Godfather starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino has changed my mindset forever. When Ted got the Godfather Trilogy the other day, I was not amused. In fact, I was not happy coz I knew I wouldn’t like it - it was not my type of genre. And despite knowing I hate mob movies, he sat me down and we watched it. Yup, he forced me to. But I didn’t finish watching it the other day. Watched about 1/2 way through then I just finished the other half yesterday and I must say that I’m so looking forward to watching the other 2 DVDs.
I never expected that I would actually enjoy it. I think it was a good movie with the right amount of violence [if you call killing everyone who is against the family ok], had a touch of romance here and there, and of course….a whole lot of the Don. Gosh, I absolutely love the character and it’s really one in a million! Marlon Brando did a SUPERB job creating this immortal character. That voice….. that senget Stalone look and up-turned mouth - CLASSIC!
If you haven’t watched it - I totally recommend it.
On a side note….ever wondered how much your dead body would cost if you sold it to science? I have and here’s the answer…took this from JoeC’s blog.

I watched this a week after it opened and I think Ted was more excited than I was! *lol* Don’t worry, I won’t give it away if you haven’t caught it yet.

I personally thought that after I watched this, I came to the conclusion that if you’ve watched ONE Harry Potter movies, you’ve seen them all. Of course, it’s got it’s moments here and there but over all, eehh…..was ok la. *ducking all the rotten eggs being thrown at me from Harry Potter fans* I know it was inevitable but it was so sad to note that Harry has lost his boyish looks. He’s a MAN now….haiz. I liked him more when he was a youngun’…..and I bet lots of old ladies would have lost it for him too!!! *lol* Funny how old ladies almost faint at his feet and can actually fall in love with this kuchi-brat. O well….I can say whatever about it, but if you’re already planning to watch it, go la. It’s really not as bad as I say it is.

And as for the book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book from J. K. Rowling….I’ve been told that it has a slow start BUT it gets very exciting as it nears the end. I won’t want to be a spoil sport and tell you the ending although I haven’t read it yet. In fact, I haven’t read a single HP book at all!! Ted bought the latest one because he couldn’t wait for the softcover. He had ordered it actually and really woke up early that morning to join the queue to collect his book! That man is sometimes so unpredictable….anyway, he was the one who told me this. In any case, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the book if you’ve kept track of it. I might have to start from Book 1 though.
A question to all Harry Potter fans : How do you feel now that J. K. Rowling has ended her writings about Harry Potter? Or do you think she might come up with something….impossible about HP?

Wednesday was THE day…..I was so pooped that I literally came home and fell straight into bed! Sis and I went on a marathon movie thingy and watched 2 movies namely Pirates of The Caribbean 3 and Shrek 3. I wouldn’t have missed Pirates 3 for anything coz I had followed it since the first movie and there was no way I would missed the 3rd movie - Jack Sparrow is in there too mar!! I trully enjoyed it and I would certainly encourage you to go watch it too. After all, Chow Yuen Fatt’s in there….please don’t expect a clean, looking suave Chow to be in the movie though - he’s a really dirty, smelly, icky looking Pirate King of Singapore in the movie and I think he did a VERY good job.
However, I do feel that the movie was too packed with too many characters….new ones that is. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad but all in all - go for it!!
Pssstt…..I think there might be fourth part too!!! *pengsan*
I didn’t want to miss Shrek because I absolutely adore Donkey. He’s my favourite!! It was suppose to open today and I didn’t realise it although I was wondering how much the tickets cost more than Pirates….I paid RM6 for Pirates 3 and RM8 for Shrek 3…weird. It only occurred to me that we may have watched a pre-release of Shrek 3, I think. And that is why I had to pay extra. Sadly, I didn’t feel that it was worth RM8 though….I think this is one movie you can wait for till Uncle Ho gets a copy out or wait for Astro lar!
