Since I’m back home for the holidays, I am taking the chance to put up shots of my Mum’s collection of gifts from around the world. Some of them are souvenirs that we had collected on our family holidays. My Mum is an avid collection of such items and I think I’ll soon follow suit since we’ve recently moved into our very own home.
So here are all things……

Europe : Mainly Ireland because I have 2 cousins who have moved there. Both of them are working there and when they come down, we get a little something. Very thoughtful of them, eh?

Thailand : These are souvenirs my Uncle gave us on his many trips to Bangkok. Being a business man, he travels a lot so we get a lot of souvenirs from him. It’s really nice of him to think of us even when he is on business - s true gem!
He’s my fav uncle too. Heh.

China : Souvenirs Mum bought on her trip to China. She went to Beijing and had a chance to walk on the Great Wall of China. Her dream is to visit all the 7 wonders of the world.

Porcelain?
Actually I just threw this one in because Mum loves vases and she has many more but I really liked how she arranged them on our showcase in the living room.
Have a good weekend!

Not too sure if I mentioned it before or not, but Mum is a super sentimental kind of person and it’s really great that she is because she has kept all the cards that we made her while we were growing up and today, I can show them to you. I made her dig it up! *lol* I didn’t think she minded because it brought back memories, I’m sure. Both sis and I grew up making cards for both Mum and Dad. We rarely bought cards or gifts for them. They were always handmade - made with lots of love.
But I guess as we grew older and moved on with life, the small but meaningful gestures and action were lost along the way. Now, we still send her cards but they are mostly stuff you get from the store. I think it’s about time that I got back into the habit of making cards again. I used to love it and I actually still do but I seem to have lost all my artistic ideas and have a blank mind! How do I get those creative juices flowing?? Anyway, while I figure it out and if you have some to share, please do…..in the meantime, here’s my sharing.

The poem of 1998 reads :
Dearest Mummy,
You gave me life, you gave me love
You gave me more than I deserve
For in my heart you know it’s true
All I have is love for you
So on this very special day
I have three words I wish to say
I hold them dear, I hold them true
For these three words are…
“I love you”!

This is the outside, here is the inside.

Dad’s & Mum’s 21st Wedding Anniversary card - don’t ask me what it means. I can’t remember why I made the card this way.

This is the outside of the card, here is the inside.
Hope you enjoyed it. It’s been awhile since I joined S&T and now, I think I was also the last to post this!

Ok, maybe that’s a little over the top because it’s not really a mountain, to be honest - it’s just a small mole hill!

This is just a small collection of postcards which I have here with me in Sydney. I have a box full of them as well back home in Malaysia. I’m not too sure how many I have at the moment because I’ve never really counted them yet. I really should do that some day.
I’m not sure what spurned the idea of collecting postcards but I guess one of the reasons is because I love snail mail and the whole idea of getting a letter/card in my real life mailbox is just so exciting! Emails I could do without since more than half of it is spam and 100x fwd mails with previous addresses still added on so you can imagine how long it is and the message is normally just a fwe lines of a picture or two! Very annoying…..
Anyway, I joined a special site called Postcrossing and it is here that I mainly get my postcards from as you swap postcards with people from all over the world. The best part is, the person sending you a postcard is random so you get a surprise everytime.
It’s really fun. I also have a website/blog where I upload picture of all the postcards I’ve since received although I must say that if you’re planning on paying a visit, please note that I haven’t updated it in a VERY VERY long time. Hehehe…too busy with the bub these day but I do have to get busy with it. I miss looking at all my old postcards.
So, if you’re interested to swap postcards with me - send me a message with your address and perhaps I could even sent you one from Malaysia when I go home in 2 weeks time.
Enjoy your weekend!!
Note : I noticed that some of you would like to have a look of some of my postcards - you can do so here. :cheerful:

I’ve got to reming myself that I have to plan ahead what I’m going to show and tell or I’ll end up with nothing to show one day and I think that day will come around about the week after! lol I’ve only got one more thing in mind to show off next week and after that, I got zilch. Anyway, today it’s all about being a true blue Parramatta Eels fan. Yes, my hubby, Ted has been a NRL fan since as long as I’ve known him and he is a diehard fan of the Parramatta Eels. At this moment, I think there are 2 items which are most precious to him : a signed rugby ball and jersey which he recently got when the team got together for the fans.

I think if ever I need to threaten him, all I need to do is hold a sharp knife toward this ball.
Other than the ball, he’s got SO many jerseys! Here are most of them as I’ve excluded the polo shirts, T-shirts and my sweater. Yes, he recruited me to join the club - I had no choice but I also have no regrets. Blue and gold make a GREAT color combo!

You can see the personally signed jersey in the picture above. This jersey was meant to be framed up and place on one of our walls but I tells ya, it’s SO huge that we now have to move house just to fit it!
Nah, just kidding but we are moving soon so it can finally be mounted on the wall as it was meant to anyway.
If having these don’t show that he is a fan, I guess I’ll have to post up his flags [I think he's got 2 of them], beanies [I got one too], scarves, caps and he even got a kiddies T-shirt for Arianna! I should have got it out of the cupboard and get her to model it. Maybe I will but for now….I hope you enjoyed it!
Have a great weekend!

I’m not too sure if I mentioned it before but Ted has this obsession over birds particularly the rainbow lorikeet which can be found in abundance here in Sydney. When we first moved into our current unit, we had so many birds come up to our balcony. Despite being wild lorikeets, obviously being in the suburbs got them used to humans and I guess they trusted us enough that we were handfeeding them for awhile.
Even over at MIL, Ted who has that magic touch, managed to get those birds to eat out of his hand. According to him, when a bird swopped out of no where and landed on his head [tis trul!], it was the greatest moment in life, supposedly above our marriage and Arianna’s birth. I really hope he was joking…. =P

The occasional cockie would also drop by.

But after sometime, the numbers dropped dramatically and now, we only get the dominant pair and their young one and occasionally, a stray pair will drop by. It’s rather sad since Ted really finds joy in feeding them nectar and birdseed, and apples too. But thankfully [or not] he has found another way of satisfying his obsession - collection anything that is in the form of a bird or has a bird on it…..

These are the stickers we got just yesterday.

Our fridge magnet collection is partly my obsession as well. This is nothing compared to what I have back home in Malaysia!
Albie should know…. Notice that the top shot is what’s everything on the fridge and the bottom is just the magnets.

Finally, Daddy’s trying to recruit Arianna with a bird notebook!
Well, hope you enjoyed my Show & Tell this week. Have a good weekend…. *muaks*

They say that old is gold and frankly, I couldn’t agree more. My mother in law has so many beautiful things stored that I had to pick and choose the things that I wanted to share today. Being my first Show & Tell, I hope I don’t screw up!
I’ve been a fan of antiques for as long as I can remember. This is perhaps due to my mum liking old things from the past. She has quite a collection herself. As for me, being recently married and having a new place of our own, nothing much is antique except the 2 easy chairs and the side board which belonged to the in laws. So in that sense, I have a wee bit of antique at home but nothing compared to the treasures she has at home!!

Love this chair….especially the tile in the middle.

According to Ted, this clock is a lot older than another one which stood beside it. Not too sure if it would still work - I believe you’d have to wind [sp] it up to get it going.

This is another piece of treasure, the wash basin, which I love. Check out those designs on the side.

The table and those brass pots are both family heirlooms. She even has this lamp shade from the 1800s! [From memory that is....]

Aaaahh….who could forget this?
We used to have one just like this. And mind you, this phone still works! Gave me quite a jolt when it rang the other day.
